Non-clicky poll: What time do you wake up?

I'm curious what time everyone wakes up in the morning to fit in your routine and get to work on time!

I have to be at work at 7, and have a less than 10 minute commute.  I am definitely not a morning person, so I seem to wait till the last possible minute (sometimes as late as 6:15, 6:20), to get out of bed, change and nurse the baby, throw on clothes, and run out the door (DH takes over baby duty until they leave for work/DC around 8am).  I'm dreading when we start doing solids in the AM (right now we are just doing a PM "meal") and actually having to wake up earlier to give LO time to eat!

Re: Non-clicky poll: What time do you wake up?

  • I get up at 5:30, leave the house by 7:00 (hopefully), in order to get to work by 8.  I have a long commute.  I have to allow plenty of time in the morning because DH and DD are both slow starters...so while I could get myself up and out the door in under an hour, the extra time is for project managing them.  Lol.

ETA:  We don't do solids at home in the morning, either.  Daycare feeds DD as soon as she gets there (she loves getting into her high chair there for breakfast and it makes it easier to drop her off with no tears).

  • I leave no extra time for extras.  I get up at 6:45, DH gets up right after I get out of shower.  We both get ready and one of us wakes DS about 7:15.  Out the door at 7:30.  DS eats breakfast at daycare and I have to be to work by 8am (20 minute drive).
  • We've been carpooling to work lately and leave the house around 6:30am in order to arrive by about 7:30am. I wake-up at 5:30am (hopefully... sometimes I press snooze for 5-10 minutes and then I have to rush around all morning) to get myself showered & dressed, and both kiddos up, fed and dressed. DH handles getting himself ready (he takes FOREVER), making coffee and getting the car packed (I set everything out the night before).
  • I get up at 6, we leave the house at 7.  It seems like it takes me a long time to get ready, but I'd rather have a little extra time (especially because DH does NOT like being late and we ride together).

We never feed DS in the morning, I let daycare take care of it.  I think that's how all the parents at our daycare do it.  Now, we give him some raisin bread and milk in the car as a snack, but I've never given him a full meal at home.  I don't have time or patience for that in the morning!

  • First of all I have to say that I am very lucky that I don't have to be at my office at a set time. My schedule is very flexible so I can arrive later. That being said I still get up about 5 or 5:30 to work out. It's the only time in my day that I have time for it. LO doesn't wake up until about 7:30 but I am up at 5:30ish, work out to 6a.m., shower to 6:10, then it is time to make coffee, LO's lunch (LO eats solids and I send him with a warm lunch to school). Then I boot up my computer and check email until about 7 a.m. when I throw on some make up and run the hair dryer thru my hair until LO and DH get up (typically around 7:30). We all eat breakfast, then I get LO dressed while DH showers, then I get dressed and we all head out the door. DH takes LO to daycare and I start my hour commute. I typically get to the office around 9 or 9:30 depending upon traffic. By that time I have already checked and responded to most email and get my day started. I am soo thankful for my flexible start time. They are soo flexible though because I have to travel alot which is the one thing I hate about my job.
  • Right now, I'm up at 5:30 to shower, get dressed, and be out the door by 7. DH and I trade off on getting DS ready - I'll get him up and start to get him dressed, DH will take over and get DS's breakfast ready while I do hair and make-up. DS munches on cereal or cinnamon toast, then gets more to eat when we arrive at DC (usually yogurt, a waffle/pancakes, and/or fruit). Tomorrow, I'm going to try to get up at 5 to do a workout video before heading into the shower. I am really needing to lose weight and exercise, and it's been really difficult to try to do it after work, so we'll see.
  • 5:45am.  Out the door at 7am and at work at 7:30am.
  • I'm up at 5 because I have to leave the house by 6:30. I take a shower & dress, get LO up & dressed and she usually has a bottle while I finish getting everything together. I drop her off around 7:15 then get to work by 7:30.

  • I get up at 6:30 am (DH leaves the house by 6am so I don't see him in the morning) I get the girls up at 6:50, give them a sippy of milk, get everyone dressed and we leave the house at 7:20 so I can get to work by 8am...the girls eat breakfast at daycare...
  • I'm up at 5 to workout and get DH out the door with a hot breakfast and lunch. At 6:15, I'm dressed and get up LO. We are out the door by 7:05, for a 7:10 daycare drop off and then my 35-40 minute commute.

  • Up at 5:20, 15 min to get dressed and out the door and a 5 min commute plus a 10 min walk into the ORs from my parking space, gives me a bit of wiggle room to get to work by 6am. Ds is still asleep when I leave (nanny comes to the house), most days he doesn't get up till 8 or 9am.

  • I get up at 5:45, shower, dress, and dry hair

Wake LO up at around 6:20-6:30 - change his diaper, clothes

6:40 - eat breakfast with DS

6:55 - load up the car and pull out of the driveway

7:15-7:20 - drop LO off at daycare

    8:00 - arrive at work

I have thought about waking earlier to exercise but I have decided that at this point, my sleep is more important.

  • My husband gets up at 530 to get ready for work which usually wakes me up.  I get dog out and fed and then DH leaves for work by 615 and I run to shower before LO wakes up.  She typically wakes up from 6-630.  If she isn't up by 645 I have to wake her up to give her enough time to have her bottle before leaving for DC.  We try to leave by 740. I leave DC by 805 to get to work at 830.  At 830 I walk into craziness at work and never catch my breath until hours latter.  BUT, I love my mornings with my LO.  I treasure the time and enjoy that she is so happy in the am.

I do question whether I should start getting up earlier in order to get more done in a day at home .  It is just hard because I don't go to bed early bc I wait till LO goes to bed before getting everyone ready for the next day.  I do laundry, load the dishwasher, make bottles, play with our dog, and sort thru mail.  I always think if I just had like 3 more hours in a day......

  • On the days that  I commute I am up at 5:15 and out the door by 5:30 (I do everything including showering the night before). It is early but I have it easy since DH gets the little one to daycare on those days.
  • I get up at 5:30, *try* to leave the house by 6:45, drop off the girlies at 7:15 and get to work by 7:30. It's exhausting!
  • I wake up between 5:30-6AM, and we try to leave the house around 6:55-7, so we can drop off DD between 7:10-7:15, and be at work at 7:30.

  • I have to be up by 6:30am or so because I leave by 7:30am.  However DS is an early riser so I'm generally up when he is which can be anywhere from 4:45-6am.  It's so rare that he sleeps later that I don't even set an alarm anymore.

  • I get up as late as possible - which is usually around 6:40am.  We need to leave the house by 7:15am.  DH and I ride together, and drop DS off together.  Then DH drops me off on his way to work.  Sometimes I'll have the vehicle in the mornings so I'll drop DH off and go to work.  He works at the bottom of the hill from my office (about 1/4 mile away).
