Would this annoy you?

J got a package in the mail from DB's mom today, and J's last name was hyphenated on the label-- She has my last name only. While I appreciate the gift, the name situation kind of pissed me off. Am I being too sensitive or is that annoying?

Re: Would this annoy you?

  • Let it go.  P's last name is hyphenated but I wouldn't expect XH's family to comply with this.  In the grand scheme of things, this is not a big deal.

  • DD has a hyphenated last name. I decided this so she can choose what to go by when she's older.

I'd let it go. Your XIL's are going to do as they please regardless of what you want. :/

  • Heck ya it would annoy me.

But then I would let it go. Not worth the extra thought.

  • DD#1 has my last name and I would be SUPER annoyed if her gramdmother did that.  I'd have to let it go, obviously, what can you do?  I'd still be pissed though!
  • I wasn't actually planning on saying anything...It just really pisses me off. I think the whole child having the father's last name is so backwards and annoying. I take care of her, she lives with ME, and I do EVERYTHING for her. Just because he's her "father" does not automatically make him her dad or entitle him to give her his last name. Even if we were together, she'd STILL have my last name. His family has a horribel reputation and I don't want her growing up with tha stigma attached. I even told his mother all of this and she still had the nerve! Sorry, vent over.
