Squeeeee!! I'm so excited. My BFF (who had the Pampers love), is wanting to try cloth. We were talking today and she was talking about the price of sposies. I told her if she ever wanted to try cloth, I could loan her some and she wants to.
Since I have a stash large enough to CD 2 babies, the plan is to let her borrow some for a few days or a week so she can try some different kinds and see what fits and if it seems practical for her... Then she's going to buy a few to start and add some here and there to build her stash til she's in full time cloth.
So some questions...
I'm going to write up a care sheet. Since she knows nothing of CD care yet, what should I include? I want to make it so she can properly care for them but not make it overwhelmingly long.
Also, anyone have and good options for user-friendly budget CDing (not prefolds)? To be honest, we haven't really worried too much about that but I know she's going to want to keep her up front cost reasonable.
He's already 6 months so a newborn stash isn't necessary. I'm thinking OS will be best, and we don't want anything cut small since he's a big boy - pretty tall!
Yay for spreading the CD love! ![]()

Re: Squeeee! My BFF is going to try cloth! (+ questions)
Congrats! That's definitely exciting and that is great that you are able to lend her some, I wish I had a friend like you when I started!! I would write out how to wash them, she probably won't need much more than that since you'll be lending her the dipes to start with. You may also want to include a link to a good site with a more in-depth guide to CDing.
Our stash mostly consists of BG's right now with a few fuzibunz and a rumparooz. I just got some pocket CD's off ebay that come all the way from china or something but at $5 a dipe and my son quickly growing out of the sized BG's I have, it was a great deal. They've only been through the wash a few times and hung dry but I haven't had any problems so far. Other than that, maybe some fitteds and covers?
Sweet!
For the care sheet, I'd give some general changing and storage instructions, and washing instructions. That should be a good start.
For budget CDing, I'd have her consider used CDs.
GL!
I've only made one purchase where I spent full price on diapers and I regret it now...I could have bought more for the $ I spent. She should search for deals/free diapers, etc... I've mostly bought from Kelly's Closet because they have free shipping over $49, have loads of free diaper codes (some that you can use more then once) and you can build up points to earn gift certificates. OR you can do the just search for a sale thing - sometimes BG 3.0's are on sale or there is a 10% code somewhere. Also, smartipants are a great option for being on a budget. Though, I think the FB's are the same price now with the 14.95 for small/medium.
So fun. I wish my SIL would use cloth so we could trade but it's not looking hopeful. She seems interested but not enough to do it.
