I forgot how depressing it is to stay in with 2 kids all day

We haven't had a day where we haven't gone anywhere in a long time. Today DS#1 doesn't have preschool and we decided to stay in because of the severe storm forecast. Plus, at 10 a.m. it just sounded fun to have a PJs day, watch a little TV, dig out some old toys.

Now, at 3 p.m., it's just plain depressing. And DH is out of town, as usual, so I don't have any adult company to look forward to later, either.

We may have to hop in the car and have a spur-of-the moment adventure. What would you do/where would you go?

  • What area?  How about that indoor play place/kids gym in Rochester.  I think it's on Crooks, just S of m-59.  It's called "Kiddie Klub."  Perfct on a day like today.

Or Jumgle Java?  There's one in Farmington Hills, Canton and Ann Arbor.  You can sit and enjoy a latte while your kids play til their hearts' content.

  • We kind of had a weekend like this because of the weather.  I ended up giving the kids a bath in the middle of the afternoon for something to do.  Dug out a bunch of plastic cups, bowls, and spoons out of the kitchen for them to play with and added lots of bubbles and they had a blast.

I read a magazine in the bathroom while they were in there.  win/win.

  • How old are the kids? Maybe a movie? rollerskating?

Bowling was a colossal fail for me last week - I don't recommend it.  But rollerskating and the arcade was fun.

  • We are staying home this afternoon because I have a cold and don't feel like lugging the kids anywhere.  DS is also taking an extra long nap for some reason.  We are going to the park when he gets up.  We go most days, it is a 5 minute walk and some of our friends come pretty much everyday too.  Nice.

If we are stuck at home, we invite someone else over.  DD and DS also like to bake, play in the tub, play with playdough, finger paint with pudding.

  • Go to the bounce house!  We are from MI too and there seem to be a lot of those around...
  • You could drive through Sonic for Happy Hour.  My kids love getting drinks there and it is a nice break sometimes.

CEC for and early dinner tonight?

A matinee movie isn't such a bad idea.  I hate Jungle Java, so I wouldn't recommend it, but it might not be too bad when kids are in school.

  • I swear to God I've lost my ever lovin' mind!  Mine have both been really sick for 4 days and we haven't left the house....not even to go outside in 4 days.  And my husband's working nights and sleeping during the day.  FMLx4!
