Is anyone using mesh feeding bags?

We started apples this week and I went to get myself an apple to snack on, then I remembered we got one of the mesh feeders as a gift, so I cut off a piece of my apple and gave it to DD... she loved it!!!

Yeah, I had to pinch the pieces to break them up and release juice so the mesh would have some flavor.

  • Just curious. What is the reasoning for using them? Why not just give baby food?

  • DS hasn't taken to liking his too much yet but we've tried it!
  • are they easy to clean?  No dishwasher here so I'm curious.

  • Yes, DD loves bananas in them- however if anyone has good ideas on how to clean them- send them my way!! Seriously, the bananas just get all mushed up in the seams and it is impossible to get out! I had to throw one of the mesh feeders out. I tried everything. Maybe I just should not put bananas in....anyone else have issues with this?!

They are a nice transition between pureed foods and chopped up bits of food because they get the baby in the habit of "chewing." However DD, still just sucks the thing to death. I hear that they are also helpful when LO is teething....Just another gadget out there to buy!!

DD loves chewing on everything, so I thought she'd enjoy something with a bit more flavor than a plastic teether.  The cold apple might feel good on her gums, and it has a little bit more "give" than a piece of hard plastic.  This wasn't for any nutritional value, just to give her a new experience.

This. DS loves his and we have a hard time cleaning the bananas out too. I usually turn it inside out and scrub with the bottle brush. He loves apples in there and it seems to help when he's teething.
