I went to the dr today because of my increase in dizzy spells, charlie horses, heart palpitations, etc.
When I got there the dr says 'Well its because of your hypoxia and anemia". Um...what?
Basically, the nurse FAILED TO TELL ME a month ago that I have both of these things. With my GD test they also tested other levels and thats when they discovered the anemia. They were supposed to let me know when they called with the GD results so that I could stat taking more iron, etc and they just forgot to tell me. Lovely, right? My dr yelled at the nurse and I swear shes going to get fired.
Anyways, I come home and google because I know very little about the two except that they usually go hand in hand and google says that maternal hypoxia can result in brain damage and developmental delays in the fetus. LOVELY.
Also, Im going to have to get an amnio to make sure his lung development and everything is ok. I am going to try to get out of it though because basically, an induction in inevitable. So if theyre going to do it regardless, why the need for the amnio?
Ugh. Not a good day.
On a lighter note, my dr said something hilarious. She was looking at the report my peri sent over about induction and was telling me that at my next appt (next week) we will schedule the actual date (EEK!!). But the funny thing she said was:
"CHW, I have to tell you. When I saw the size of his head in the report, it made my vagina spasm."
OMG, i almost cried I was laughing so hard.
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)

Re: Google sucks (and a dr update)
You can't catch a break, can you?!?!?
Hopefully the iron will help with everything and stay away from Dr. Google...his bedside manner leaves something to be desired.
Unreal! I would have flipped on that nurse!
The doc's comment was pretty awesome though- at least they are making you laugh!
WOW, that nurse is an a-hole. I mean, everyone makes mistakes but that's kind of a really freaking big one!!
Try not to let all that google info upset you. I know it's serious, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen to your little one.
And nice to see your Dr. has such a good sense of humor, lol. I would have died if my doc said that to me :-P
#1 The nurse has what's coming to her.
#2 Google Dr is not your friend
#3 You and Cooper will be just fine, your vagina on the other hand...
#4 McFlurries fix everything.
Sounds like the nurse who told me I had an STD- when I didn't (except reverse the situation). What an idiot. I *hope* she gets fired.
And don't torture yourself with the google. Sorry it's been a tough day.
( Tell Cooper (and his mama) to hang in there!
That is unreal, and definitely something that scares me. I love my Dr., but the front office can be a mess sometimes. I'm glad your doctor took the error seriously and let her have it.
A friend sent me a cute video on advice moms would give themselves if they could go back, my all time favorite is:
"Google doesn't have children"
#1- I HOPE the nurse gets fired. The dr was like 'She could have passed out while driving and died." and i know my eyes got huge. The nurse said she thought I was already told and the dr said " you were calling her with the reults, how would you assume she was already told?"
#2 Even though Dr Google isnt my friend, I still always go to him
#3 I am very scared for my vaj. Very.
#4 I think Im going to go get an oreo McFlurry with extra oreos. OR a coffee toffee twisted frosty...havent decided.

I think I saw that same video, and it made me cry!

Lol, that's hilarious what your doc said about the u/s report.
As far as hypoxia goes, I think you were reading the absolute worse case scenario regarding effects it CAN have on a fetus. Here's what I know about it: (I'm a nurse, I wouldn't tell you this unless I had some sort of medical backround)
Anemia is when you have low blood levels in your body, very common in pregnancy because all the changes and shifts going on with blood volume. The blood is what carries oxygen to everything, so obviously if your levels are low, you may be carrying less oxygen. This is why you are having heart palpatations and feeling dizzy, also totally normal in pregnancy. Chances are, unless you're blood levels are so low that you are losing consiousness and/or needing a blood transfusion, your baby is not going to be affected. You just need to take additional iron supplemements, it's not like you need to be hospitalized on oxygen or something. Google is dangerous. You'll be fine. That nurse sucks! As a nurse myself, I get really annoyed when I hear about other nurses making unexcusable mistakes.
Thank you for that! I was trying to find something to explain the hypoxia better without scaring me and I was failing. Boo.
I appreciate you taking the time to explain it!
