Organizing Onesies...

I had my baby shower this past weekend and I received so many onesies but now I don't know what to do with them.  We received them in all different styles and sizes 0-3, 6-9, 12.

I am planning on putting them in the dresser but I am trying to come up with a way to easily keep them organized by month so when I need to just grab one I know exactly where the sizes are.

What are you doing to organize your onesies?

Re: Organizing Onesies...

  • I am going to do what worked with my son. I bought totes and separated /labeled them by size. I would keep the next size tote in the bottom of his closet so they would be handy, and an empty tote also in bottom of closet for when I put an outfit on that was just too small. This helped me keep track of what actually fit because the size on shirt differs with every brand.  Good luck!

  • For now, I washed and put NB and 0-3 in one drawer (stacked by short sleeve, long sleeve, and sleepers).  Then I put the rest in a bottom drawer and will sort through them as he gets bigger.

  • I'm going to organize newborn, 0-3 and 3-6 months clothes and put away the rest. It'll be easier for me to keep things organized if I'm not dealing with all the clothes at once.

  • Lo's dresser is a four drawer dresser. So top drawer is NB and 0 -3 months. Middle two are 3 - 6 and 6 - 9 and anything bigger, and the fourth drawer is for all his knit/cotton pants and shorts.

All of his "outfits"are hung up. We also received many of onesies and sleepers!

This is what we did with DS and will do the same this time.  Basically, anything bigger than 12 mos went in a box in the closet.  I just routinely check it to get out the stuff that he's grown into.  Also keep a huge box in the closet that I throw in stuff that he's outgrown.  We are currently up to 6 of those huge rubbermaid tubs in the basement full of clothes that he has outgrow!  Once you fill one up, just label it with the sizes inside and that way you will be able to quickly sort through it later when you need to pull it out for #2 or give it away.

  • Right now I have only 0-3 month stuff in LO's dresser. The rest of his clothes are boxed or hanging. Once he is close to being out of his 0-3 stuff, I'll wash the 3-6 and put it in the dresser and start phasing it in.

This is exactly what I did. All of LO's smaller onesies are washed and put in his top drawer. 9+ months have been washed folded and stored in a plastic tote to be brought out when he needs them. I organized the ones in the drawer from left to right. Left being NB, then 0-3 and so on.

  • I hate clutter so I found that the best thing for us was to wash and put away all NB in the first two drawers and the 0-3 months in the bottom two. I put all the other sizes away in labeled containers so I can keep adding to them as I go. My LO has a lot of clothes already tho and I couldn't fit them all in if I wanted to :( opps! lol I am also planning on having a tote in his nursery for clothes that are too small that will find its way to a container for the next baby.

  • I haven't washed anything yet, so most everything came on a hanger.  Those are in the closet, by size, using closet dividers.  We plan on keeping outfits hung up, but sleepers and onesies will get put into drawers as they get washed.

Top drawer is NB/0-3, next is 3-6, next is 6-9...As the baby outgrows, I'll simply move the drawers up!  Seems like a simple enough system!

  • I have washed everything that we have so far!  All outfits and extra cute Pjs are hanging in the closet.  These items are organized according to size.  In the top drawer of the dresser I have all lotions, creams, diapers, and grooming supplies.  In the middle drawer I have all pants, and onesies organized by size.  In the bottom drawer I have all one piece sleepers organized my size and also separated by zippers and snaps.  In the closet organizer I have all sleeping gowns, sleep sacks, miracle blankets and swaddlers.
