I recently returned to work and have been pumping every 2 hours. I start out getting almost 6 oz (which I know is due to the amount of time that has lapsed since the last nursing) but it seems that my supply is getting lower each time I pump. I'm barly getting 4oz
Are you getting the same amount each time you pump?
Are you pumping the same amount of time each time you pump?
I usually pump until the milk stops usually 10-12 minutes
Thanks
Re: Are you getting the same amount each time you pump?
I've been puming every 3 hours and get the same amount - 2 ounces. Not alot, I know, but I have low supply issues anyway.
It's normal for your output to decrease as the day goes on. Some people also get less as the week goes on for some reason (maybe as work stresses catch up with us...).
I'm out of whack right now because I've added in a before work pump. But, typically I pump 3 times at work, 9, 12 & 3. I usually get a total of 4.5-5ozs at 9:00; 3.5ozs at 12:00 and 2.5-3ozs in the afternoon. I usually get between 10-12 ozs.
My DD just moved up to 3 4oz bottles during the day, so I'm trying to up my pumping to make sure I get 12+.
I get the most from my first pump (9:30 am) and less at the next pump sessions (1:00; 3:30 - I usually drop my 3:30 but only did this after DD was 6 months)
I pump 15 mins a time. 4 oz would be normal. I get 3-6 depending on time of day, length in between, hydration, what I've eaten etc.
