another ultrasound?

I'm starting week 34 today! I'm wondering if the doc will do another ultrasound before the due date-- otherwise how do they know how big the baby is, etc.? I would love to see him again. My appointment with the doc are so fast lately-- urine sample, blood pressure, weight, belly measurement, and that's it. They keep saying everything is great, fine, etc. which is a blessing but I am curious about the baby's growth, my fluid levels, etc. How do they know everything is okay when all they have done is the outside tests since the anatomy scan ultrasound? Maybe I'm paranoid. I would just like to have more info. Do doctors usually do another ultrasound closer to the due date?

it depends.. some docs do a growth u/s and some don't, i hear. mine was at 33 weeks, and since he's measuring big they'll do another at 36. however, my girlfriend didn't get one at all until 38 weeks, when they did a stress test on the baby.

I was wondering the exact same thing! My doc and I have different opinions on my due date so I am curious to see how big he is! I am going to ask Friday when I go in.

It all depends on your doctor, mine will not being doing another one unless something is wrong. They do belly measurements to see how big baby is and fluid levels. If you are 2 weeks off in either direction then most doctors will do a u/s to see what the change is from. I couldn't wait to see our little boy again either so we got a 3d u/s for fun.

I have a "growth scan" ultrasound Monday, Nov. 1st. I will be 34 weeks 2 days at that ultrasound.

The main reason they are so worried about growth is because I have a Thyroid Condition, and that can have an impact on the babies size.

I am thinking that will be the last ultrasound until our LO arrives, but who knows, I was surprised to have 1, let alone 2 after the anatomy scan at 21 weeks.

I know what you mean by wanting to know that everything is ok. My OB will not do another u/s after the anatomy scan unless something is wrong. I get the same kind of check ups you do and wish there were more reassurance, but I keep trying to tell myself my OB does this all day long and I'm lucky to not have issues or *need* additional ultrasounds.

I know what you mean, my apointments are so quick these days. I wonder how they can really tell everything is ok. DD had fluid on her kidney until I was about 36 weeks, but they didn't notice it until I was about 28 weeks. I think I had about 10 US with her. I guess because of my fertility issues. This time I got pregnant on my own but I feel like I'm on my own with the pregnacy too. I asked the doctor I saw at my last apt about having another US, she said they won't unless they think something is wrong. I'm going to ask my regular dr at my next visit. I hope I get to see her again & know for sure that everything is, infact, ok.

I wasn't supposed to have another one, but I'm measuring small so they're doing one next week (at 36 weeks).

I'm due exactly when you are and at my appointment last week my doctor said no more ultrasounds unless she notices something to be concerned about. She measured the outside of my belly and said I was measuring fine and that was pretty much the extent of that appointment. It's great to hear everything is good but I do want to see little one again but I guess I'll have just have to wait a few more weeks!
