I really struggle with jeans in the winter because, as you may remember from the GTG, I am the size of a munchkin. Bootcut pants that fit in the waist tend to be too long, and so on. I spent the weekend with a younger friend (she's 24) in Chicago earlier this month, and she convinced me to buy a pair of skinny jeans from The Gap while they were on sale. They're almost more like those jeans/leggings (jeggings?).
I wore them out for the first time this weekend with a longer sweater/hoodie thing with flats and I thought they looked okay. But then I wondered if I looked like a poser since I'm obviously not that young anymore. It's a cute look, you know, but I wonder if there is an age limit on an outfit like that? I don't want people to be thinking, "Look at that mom trying to pull off an outfit like that-- nice try." I'm almost 28, but, let's face it, having a child has definitely aged me. Does an outfit like that have age limits? Or is it just a style that, if you can pull it off, you can go ahead??
Re: How old is too old for skinny jeans?
I don't think there is an age limit at all. I'm almost 29 and LOVE my skinny jeans. I even bought a maternity pair because maternity tops are so long and baggy that if you pair them with regular jeans/pants it's way to much fabric and makes me look like a tent.
I don't know how you'd wear some of the longer tunic type fasions with out them. And if you're still in your twenties you can get away with anything!
