1st Trimester

Scared and confused

I'm entering my 5th week (or already in it depending on who you speak to in the dr's office) and had spotting and cramping two days ago.  I've recently gone through a miscarriage as well so I've been really nervous. This will be my 3rd pregnancy... the first is a healthy little boy that I'm blessed to have around me!

I thought the spotting and cramping was done with... yesterday was clear so I started to feel better.  Today it's back and the dr's office sent me to get blood work.  I'm so upset that I might be miscarrying again.

What bothers me is that the dr. wouldn't get on the phone, the nurse kept telling me this could be normal.

Keeping my fingers crossed it's nothing and "normal".  I'm so scared and nervous... not sure what answers i'm looking for but i just needed to say it somewhere because we haven't told anyone yet. :(

 sorry for the ramble

  • Keep your chin up and keep speaking to the doctor and his/her staff. I hope it goes better.

  • I had pink then brown spotting for over a week. It was very little and tapered off to little specks mixed with discharge. I took an HPT when it went to the specks and it obviously came out BPF :)  I also cramped off and on during that time. According to everything I'm reading it's either normal, or not normal to spot and cramp at the same time. Very confusing. But now, I'm having some discharge with no spotting, but I'm having some cramps off and on. Woke up to them this morning, and as soon as I got home from work I started feeling them again. I have no idea what's going on, and it's scary. They feel somewhat like menstrual cramps, but not nearly as intense. Just dull, but in the same areas I get menstrual cramps.

My DH is away with work right now, so I haven't even told him yet. He gets home Friday. I am wanting to surprise him with a pee stick (romantic, huh?) when he gets home, and all I keep worrying about is if it will all be over before then. I'm trying to stay positive, but with this being my first pregnancy (had a chemical pregnancy a few years ago), I'm just so unsure of all of the feelings.

Only those that have read my posts know at this point, so I understand! I hope we both find out that it's normal and FINE! :)

  • ladies thank you... .and lollyo thank you for sharing your own experience.  Fingers crossed for the both of us... I have a lot of the on and off cramps just like you do, dull like you explained.  I'm not sure what to make of it.

there's so much confusing information to be read... it's normal, it's not normal, see a dr but the dr won't speak to us, etc.  I just hope it all works itself out.

     Good luck! :)

  • I'm sorry.  I'm going through something similar, but am a little farther along and been to the doctor.  I had some spotting at week 6 and then actually had some bleeding last week.  This is also my 3rd pregnancy and I have one adorable little boy.  I was sure it was another miscarriage, but my ultrasound last week showed a happy baby with perfect heartbeat and measuring exactly on time.  I'm still spotting.  From what I have read and discussed with my doc we have about a 50/50 shot of being OK.  It's crazy, but for now I'm just hoping for the best.

Just wanted to let you know I'm going through the same thing.

  • I certainly can't blame you for being concerned as I would be too. But one of my best friends spotted (and even bled) early in both of her pregnancies and she has two happy and healthy little boys. Hopefully this is of some reassurance.

Hopefully the spotting will stop soon and your LO will continue to stick!

  • Sorry you are going through this. It is really scary. Keep speaking with the drs office if you feel that way. At 5 and 6 weeks I had spotting, both times went in for Blood work and U/S. I started spotting again yesterday and called the doc. Again I went in for blood work and u/s Saw the little one squirming around and had a heartbeat of 180. Still waiting on bloodwork. Its been scary and the longest 10 weeks I feel like. Keep your head up and I will be thinking and praying for you.
  • thank you all for responding... trying to keep my chin up.  I'm going back tomorrow for additional bloodwork.  I keep taking pregnancy tests and they are still positive and oddly that makes me feel better.  The spotting is lighter today but still there.  Good luck and wishing you all a healthy pregnancy! :)
