I think I may be at the end of my workout days

I went to the gym yesterday like normal.  Didn't do anything out of the ordinary - 30 minutes eliptical on the same resistance I always use, arms and shoulders at the same weights I always use.

I got home and started puttering about the house, trying to consolidate the trash that accumulated after the weekend Baby Gear Assembly frenzy. And needed a good sit for a bit

Took the dogs for their usual nightly walk - the short route, even (just 2 miles) - and was beat.  Surfed the couch for the rest of the night.

Went to bed at 9:15 last night and pretty much slept solid all night.  And I still overslept this morning.

Kinda cranky about this.  I still feel physically fit enough to be doing these things but the day-long endurance... not so much.

Re: I think I may be at the end of my workout days

  • I decided the same thing a week ago, although for different reasons.  My ute would start to twinge just a bit when I got done working out.  I'm still walking the dogs for about 30 mins at night, but no more weights.

  • I think this week will be my last week at the gym, too.  I'm down to only using the bike and treadmill there, but I tend to push myself too much.  I'm going to continue my evening walks with DH (a leisurely 45 minute stroll around the neighborhood), but it's time to put the gym membership on hold.

You all impress me! I quit working out the day I started barfing-so like.....at 6 weeks? Kudos to you all for being awesome and me sucking. I can only imagine how rough it will be after baby when I start back up!

    This!

  • It was emotionally really hard for me to give up running and scale back my activities, but sometimes you have to listen to your body. I have contractions whenever I'm doing anything active--just bending and stooping to put away groceries or climbing a flight of stairs at work gets me going big-time--so I'm learning to be gentle on myself and ask for help (with lifting and that type of stuff) when I need it. It really goes against my nature to ride the elevator and ask for help lifting things, etc., but I keep reminding myself it's only temporary.

Oh and the tiredness seems to be inescapable! I haven't done any real exercise since Saturday (and even that was just a couple miles walking), and I'm just bone tired. It's like first trimester the sequel..

  • i'm starting to feel this way too. i dropped from working out 3-4 days a week to 2-3 at most. after i do resistance training, i feel some cramps and i have to lie down for awhile afterward. it sucks! i don't want to endanger the baby obviously, but i hate not working out..

    this lol

but I have been working full time as a trauma nurse, 36 hours a week which means I run for 12 hours straight! So I just like to think that is my workout! And I am scheduled to work the day before LO is born so I better stay fit :)

  • I'm not there quite yet but with the frequent BH I had over the weekend, I think the day is coming. I'm not sure I'll be able to deal emotionally-exercise is what keeps me sane. Ack!

  • As of last week, I am basically just doing my prenatal yoga class and walking the dog now too. I can't believe how tired I get all the time now.

Not to worry, we'll be back out there in no time!
