BFers & EPers Help Please!

So DH and I seem to have had something for dinner that made us sick (possible food poisoning). I EP and really don't want DD to get this... should I throw away the milk I pumped since dinner last night?

 TIA!

Re: BFers & EPers Help Please!

  • kellymom.com says that you should continue nursing if you get food poisoning, or most any other illness (the only ones contraindicated are HIV and HTLV-1!) In very severe food poisoning cases, like if you were hospitalized for it, it might be a different story.

ETA: definitely don't throw your milk away!!

  • I had food poisoning and I continued to nurse DD through out the day and she was fine. You shouldn't throw out the milk.

  • Yep, food poisoning won't be passed through BM.  Make sure you are staying hydrated though!  Feel better, mama.
