So, I was just digging around trying to find a remedy to my sensitivity to eggs. I can't eat a plain egg without serious discomfort, but I can eat things with eggs in them. This has been going on for years, and I know better than to even nibble at an egg. I need the protein though! Then I just came across a ton of info on regular vs organic, free range eggs. It appears maybe my egg sensitivity (I tested negative for allergy) is related to the antibiotics they inject the chickens with. I am very allergic to the two main antibiotics that are commonly used. Maybe it's not the egg itself that causes me to have the symptoms? Now I am squeamish about what I am feeding my kids.
That said, I am going to try to find some free range organic eggs, and give them a try next weekend. Where is the best place to buy those? ALSO, I just told DH about my discovery, and he wants to start buying organic milk, eggs, and the dirty dozen, at a minimum. I can't believe he is so willing, given the extra cost.
Any great credible websites that you recommend for reading up and making myself the informed organic shopper would be appreciated.
We were considering Farm Fresh deliveries back in the summer, but I put it off. Now that they have changed names, are those who still use them as happy with what they bring?
Thanks! Sorry so long.
Re: s/o organic foods
I am in Mason. I prefer to keep it close by so I can make regular stops.
I will go check out Marvin's Organic Gardens. Thanks for the reco.
ETA: I buy organic things sporadically from Kroger or WalMart, but have never been consistent with it. I would love to find a local farm with a market that has regular hours so I can buy some local items to try. I need to keep it within 15 minutes of the north 275 loop to make it feasible.
Lurker here. We get our eggs from Gravel Knolls Farm in West Chester (just off Union Centre on Cin-Day). I think their eggs are only $3/dozen. They used to be organic certified but let it lapse due to cost, they still follow the same practices. We also do the CSA through them. They have regular daily hours.

We go to Whole Foods in Mason for most of our organics and get the 365 brand, but the organic eggs at Kroger are a good price too. For Milk, the 365 brand is the best price I have seen.
We use Green BEAN delivery (same place, same service, just new name) but only for produce. We get the medium basket for $35 and its more than enough for us for the week. Whatever is left, gets made into baby food and there is plenty of that too. They have eggs and milk, but the milk is in 1/2 gallon containers and we need more than that.
I should add that we don't shop at Walmart, so I can't compare to their prices.
