I am so happy that they have this board.. I think its a great idea.. Well let me ask you experienced Moms about this.. My due date is 12/4/2010.. Apparently I am a good candidate for Vbac.. My doctor says my previous incision(C-section) was a clean horizontal cut etc... The thing is that I delivered my first child @ 29 weeks via c-section & MD is saying that what might look good per the records from that birth, might not look so good now being that this baby is full term... I am not sure if I should elect a VBAC or do a C-section ..just wanted to know you opinions ? please help..
Re: Confused
so...if you were going to deliver another preterm baby, then it would be fine to vbac, but not if it's full term? that doesn't make any sense to me.
did your OB explain why? has your OB read the new ACOG guidelines on vbacs?
this stinks of bait and switch to me, unless there is more that you haven't shared!
I personally don't want to go through recovery again. I don't want the feeling that my body failed. (Even though it didn't.) I want a natural, med free birth. I want what I feel I was cheated out of.
That's why I'm going for a VBAC. It's a personal choice.
I don't even know if that answered your question lol. But I hope it helped a little!
M/C Dec 2010 - 5w5d Missing my sweet angel baby.
Each pg is different and I honestly don't see the doctor's point with what seems to be a large baby comment. Most babies are not truly too large to fit. I wouldn't even consider size being an issue with this pg.
Hard to say what is right for other people, but for me the risks of the multiple c/s's (which, IMO are at least as great if not greater than VBAC risks) and benefits to baby with a naturally started labor, plus the ability to be with LO immediately after birth rather than waiting alone in the recovery area are some of the reasons I am really hoping for a successful VBAC.
I think the fear of not getting my VBAC has been the hardest thing to overcome, personally. To deal with it, I remind myself that all I can do is focus on what I can prepare beforehand (birth team, support, knowledge, knowing what I want out of my birth, etc) and trust that that will allow me to make the best decisions during labor. If I do that I feel like I have a much better chance to be happy with whatever birth I end up with.
