Success after IF

Is this rude?

We leave on Friday for SIL's house and I am debating on taking food with us. Riley is a picky eater and has some food coloring allergies to boot. This means he only eats certain kinds of pasta, yogurt and other kid friendly foods. She told me to make a list and she would buy what we need but honestly I can't even send DH to the store with a detailed list without him getting the wrong brand. And I would hate for her to go to that kind of trouble only to have me tell her he can't have what she bought.

How rude would it be for me to pack an ice chest of yogurt, cheese and other foods and a box of mac and chesse?

PS We are driving and her house is an hour from the store to her house so I really don't want to go shopping once I get there.

Re: Is this rude?

  • I don't think so at all. I would SO do that and she will hopefully realize that you've just done her a favor!  : )

  • I bring food with me wherever we go.  If we're going to a meal at grandmas or away for the weekend.  There is always the chance that there is going to be nothing for him to eat and I always like to have a back up.  I would totally pack what you need and you know he'll like.  Its just a way for you to make sure that the weekend goes as smoothly as possible.

PS - I would totally tell your SIL that you appreciate the offer, but you can't even send DH to the grocery.  :)  Hopefully she'll understand the dilemma!

  • Not rude at all!  I brought food when we stayed at my SIL/BIL's and DS doesn't have any issues.  Just makes it easier when they can eat what they are used to.  I'm sure she won't care!

  • We bring food wherever we go because DD is a very picky eater. When we visit MIL we bring a cooler of food (she's a 2 1/2 hour drive away) and go shopping when we're there if we need to.

I don't think it's rude at all! You're making it easier on her, so hopefully she'll see it that way!

  • I would say def. not.  If you feel bad, just explain to her that it's really difficult to shop for this kind of thing and that he's really picky.

  • If it is, then I am rude, too!  I always bring food for DS when we go places - even when we go out to eat at a restaurant!  DS will only eat a few things consistently, so if we go somewhere to eat, we want him to eat so he will be entertained for some of that time.  And he is always in a better mood when he is full, not hungry Smile  Have fun!

  • I don't think it is rude at all.  It's good planning, frankly.
