New to The Bump

New, and can't tell anyone!

Hi! I JUST found out that I'm pregnant a couple days ago. I got two positive results on HPTs and even after that it's hard to believe! I can't contact a doctor quite yet because I'm in the middle of a big move, so as soon as I get to my new home I'm going to find an Ob/Gyn. It is KILLING ME that I can't tell my family and friends yet.  It's such a tough secret to keep!  Did anyone else struggle with this?? i thought this would be a good opportunity to shout it to the world that I'M PREGNANT!  My husband and I have been married for two years and two months.  We decided to start trying recently (thinking it might take a while) and apparently it only took one month. Crazy right?  Well I'm looking for some friends to chat with through my pregnancy.  I don't have any symptoms yet (besides a missed period and some cramps,) so it's hard to believe that i actually am.

Re: New, and can't tell anyone!

  • congrats! why can't you tell your family/friends? i told my mom about 3 minutes after bfp (right after i told dh of course!). if you want to share i say go ahead and share with who ever you want. the birth monthh boards are a good place to start and are typically a kinder, gentler place to get your feet wet on the bump.

  • Congrats!! It is so hard to not scream your exciting news from the rooftop!! We had some early complications so we waited until we reached the 12 week point to share our news...it was SOOOOO hard!!!!!
  • Why can't you tell anyone?
  • I feel the same way - we said we weren't going to tell ANYONE until after my first doctor's appointment.  Then, I called a family friend who is a doula.  Then I had dinner with a friend and couldn't keep it in.  Then we told his brother and SIL.

This is our first pregnancy and we don't want to tell too many people, but just enough so that if something happens we have support.  Our parents live out of state and we had plans to see them soon and want to tell them in person, but it's killing me keeping this from my Mom!  And as you can see, we do not have any self restraint.

So, I totally get how you feel.  You want to be cautious and tell as few people as possible in the even that something goes wrong, but at the same time you just want to shout!

    Congratulations!
