Alabama Babies

screaming baby last night

I have no idea what was wrong with Lydia last night.  She didn't have a fever, rubbed baby orajel on her gums (where the other tooth looks like it may come in soon) and gave her some ibuprofen (in case it is the tooth).  Changed her diaper, wiped her down to cool her off, and all that worked to soothe her was rocking her.  It took Brad and I two hrs to calm her down and finally get her back to bed asleep.  Ugh, commutting an hour after losing 2 hrs of sleep is NOT fun.

I'm not sure if her second tooth is trying to break in or what but that is out of the norm for her.  If she won't go right back down when she wakes Brad can usually lay down with her on the couch and she calms down and he puts her back to bed.  Last night nothing would work.

My mom said it was prob her tooth or she could have had a nightmare - as babies sometimes get night terrors.  Poor girl, I just wanted her to get some rest.

  • Poor baby!  Caroline was in the same boat last night.  I finally gave up at 11:00 and just put her in bed with me.  Ugh....at this point, she's never going to sleep a full night in her bed.  :(

The only time we allow Lydia in the bed with us is for a nap (if one of us is going to nap too) or in the am when she wakes up when I'm getting ready and Brad puts her in the bed with him - she goes right to sleep when he does this.

I know a lot of parents like co-sleeping but I would never sleep if she was in there a whole night with us.

She's slept in her crib since the day we got home from the hospital.

    I hope Caroline is better!!!

I just didn't know what was wrong with Lydia.  I felt so bad for her.

  • With C., I think it was a combination of the storm, the ridiculously loud train and her teeth.  She's terrified of the train whistle and there were a million that came by last night.  The trains were really annoying last night.  That being said, even when she was in bed with me, she had a really hard time falling asleep.

    That's no good!!!

Lydia would be in trouble if the trains bothered her.  In Auburn you can hear them everywhere!!!  Thank God for sound machines :-)

  • We had bad storms here in B-ham so I was up @ 3:30 watching James Spann to make sure we weren't going to blow away. I was sure she was going to wake up with all the thunder but she was out. On the teething, she has 3 molars coming through right now, two are mostly through. May be bad, but I even put my finger on it and let her bite down. I also think she has had bad dreams. She will wake up and I can just go in, not pick her up and rub her back to calm her back to sleep. I feel your pain on not sleeping, I have gotten use to hser sleeping through the night, so if we back track it sucks.
