3rd Trimester

What are you getting Lo for Christmas? Or Other holidays too!!

My husband and I were talking about how sweet it will be to have things under the tree for her even though she will have no idea what is happening. Its mostly for photos.

So far I have gotten two christmas books, baby jeans, a Mellisa and Doug block toy thingy, and a cool sippy cup for when she is older. Not sure what will be from snata yet. I am thinking the toy.

 What are you all doing?

  • Nothing. She's not scheduled to arrive until January and we're the only ones in the fam not buying her gifts this year.

  • DD was born 12/22/08, I just got her a Christmas book that said "To our Guinevere on her first Christmas. Love, Mommy & Daddy" I figure it was a nice thing for her to hold onto as more of a keepsake.
  • Connor is due Nov 28th so he'll be about a month by then. I might get him and outfit and a couple books, but I plan on getting him a tummy time playmat since we didn't get one for the shower.

  • Probably some baby books, and something that says "Baby's 1st Christmas" as a keepsake. Sears has this adorable stuffed panda that has 2010 on it's foot, I kinda want to get it...

  • Since she is due on the 28th... probably nothing.  If she is around for x-mas, which could certainlly happen, I would want to get her a christmas dress and "first xmas" ornament, but that is only for pics and because DH and I are crazy for collecting ornaments!!

nothing, it seems pointless to us that a couple of days old baby would need to have presents etc. the only reason i would give a newborn baby gifts is if there was an older sibling who would notice santa did not bring l.o. a gift.

This is exactly why we're doing it. We're getting some necessities and some gifts that she will grow into over her first year.

This. Plus I'm sure our families will give stuff, although I told them not to go overboard because the baby has no idea.

  • Honestly, probably nothing. LO will be only 3wks old and I'm sure will be spoiled by everyone else. I think we will wait til next year to really get anything and let this last Christmas be all about DS :o)

  • Maybe a book or two - he's only going to be a month old and will get plenty of stuff from family.  Definitely not much, it seems wasteful to me unless it's something we really need.

  • We only do 3 gifts for each child, but I haven't figured out yet what to get for the baby. Since he/she will only be 3 weeks old or so, I don't think the baby is going to care!

I love this play mat from IKEA... I think we're going to get it, as I prefer all the different textures/interactions more than the playmats with huge hanging/dangling things.

I would go with just getting one thing, but I don't want to risk DD asking why the baby didn't get 3 things from Santa as well... so I'll have to figure the other 2 things out.

  • I just went out Christmas shopping for DD, and I put an outfit on there for DD#2... we wont be getting her much else though... I am due 12/10.

    a pony

My MIL really did try and bribe me with a pony because she wanted us to have a baby that bad!

  • My H and I were just talking about this yesterday.  Our LO will be almost 2 months old and he really wants us to get him something.  So, we decided that each of us would pick out two things (definitely small things), wrap them, and put them under the tree.  That way there is still an element of surprise. Smile
  • Baby boy will be getting some soft books and soft cars for Christmas. Also, some Baby's First Christmas ornaments.

I also picked up a My First Christmas Sleeper and bib

I love this idea. :) This way, even though the baby could care less at the moment, it still makes it fun for mommy & daddy. I may have to steal your idea. :P

  • like mentioned in earlier post, my dd asked what santa would bring her sister.  sister was 3 weeks old at the time, so i took a can of baby formula and put it in a "baby's first christmas" stocking.  i'll do the same thing with this one.  i'll get her a "baby's first christmas" ornament too, but thats our tradition.
  • We're going to get her some toys that are upto a year b/c she won't have a b-day until November so it will be nice to have some toys for her when she is 6mos etc. We'll just put them away until she is the appropriate age.
