April 2011 Moms

April 10th'ers

How's everyone doing here at the beginning of week 16?  I can't believe how quickly time is going!

Are you a "been there, done that" mom?  If so how many little ones do you have?  Ages?  Do they know about the pregnancy?

Does everyone work outside the home (PT/FT?)?  Will that change with the addition of this little one?

Anything new baby related this week?

Anything else you'd like to share?

Have a great week, everyone!

Re: April 10th'ers

  • We are doing pretty good.  Overdid it pretty well this weekend with a lot of fall activities.

We have a 2 & 1/2 year old daughter, Margaret, who is super excited about the baby.  She loves going to appointments with us and listening to the heartbeat, and then repeating that sound over and over!  It is wonderful!  She swears that the child is a girl, and that we will name it "boy".  So, we have a little progress to make there.  Wink  But, I don't know that she understands that the baby will come out eventually.  We have mentioned the names we have chosen to her, but I don't think she understands, which is good because we don't share our name choices.

I work PT.  When LO gets here, I can't wait to QUIT my job for good!  More stress than it is worth.  I have considered staying on PRN if that would be an option, but I just don't think its worth it.

Nothing baby related.  2 weeks till next appointment, I am looking forward to this one though, to schedule anatomy scan, we won't be finding out the sex however.  Right now, I think this appt will be first of december ish.  Not really in any huge hurry, since we saw the health babe two weeks ago.

Does everyone work outside the home (PT/FT?)?  Will that change with the addition of this little one?  I work FT outside the home and that will continue once this little one arrives.  DH's cousin commented this weekend on what a shame it is that I will continue working after the baby arrives.  I wanted to punch her.

Anything new baby related this week? I think I have won the battle over the antique crib DH wanted to use for baby. I vetoed it from the start and lots of other people have agreed (including his annoying cousin).  We also started discussing the nursery as far as paint color and have been casually chatting about names.

Does everyone work outside the home (PT/FT?)?  Will that change with the addition of this little one? Right now I'm working full time as a medical receptionist. After LO is born I will probably not go back to work for a few years.

Anything new baby related this week? Well we just decided that we're going to find out the sex, but that's still a few weeks away.

Anything else you'd like to share? My older brother just announced that he and his girlfriend are having a baby. Due May 22. I'm excited that my LO will have a cousin so close in age. Growing up me and my cousins were all within a year of each other and it was really great at family get togethers.

  • Hi! I can't believe we are all in our 4th month already. The day to day of my pregnancy seems to take forever but to think that 16 weeks has gone by already is pretty awesome.

Are you a "been there, done that" mom?  If so how many little ones do you have?  Ages?  Do they know about the pregnancy? This will be our first baby.

Does everyone work outside the home (PT/FT?)?  Will that change with the addition of this little one?  I do work outside the home ft, I will have the ability when the baby comes to work from home after the 8 weeks maternity leave. So I will most likely work from home the first part or the day, then head to the office after lunch. I wish I could just work from home ft. It is going to be really hard going back to work.

Anything new baby related this week? I am so ready to start putting the nursery together. At least with the big pieces of furniture. Hopefully we can find a set we love soon. I have a baby appt today and we are just counting down the 3 weeks until our big ultrasound.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

  • I'm doing pretty well this week.  My newest challenge is sleeping.  I'm so tired yet restless and uncomfortable.  I've been trying a new position/sleep wear/temperature (fan on or off) almost every night.  Oh well.  This is easier to deal with than the nausea.

This will be our second baby.  DS is almost 17 months so he doesn't really have a clue, but he seems to love being around other babies that we know.

Right now I work a flexible 40 hr a week schedule.  It's an ok arrangement.  I would prefer to be part time, ideally 3 days a week.  I haven't approached the subject with management yet so we'll see.

I made a fun baby related purchase of a home doppler which I love having.  I've been very anxious this whole pregnancy so it's helped ease my mind.  Other than that, I'm just waiting for my next appointment on November 4th and trying to nail down a girl name.  The nursey is the big project that is looming....being Team Green almost gives you too many options!

    Have a great week everyone!

  • I can't believe how fast time is flying by. 4 more weeks and we will be halfway!!

Are you a "been there, done that" mom?  If so how many little ones do you have?  Ages?  Do they know about the pregnancy? I'm a first time mom :)

Does everyone work outside the home (PT/FT?)?  Will that change with the addition of this little one? I'm a FT student and work a FT job. I'll be graduating in December with my B.A in Technical Writing. I'll have 12 weeks of maternity leave once the baby gets here, but then I will be returning to work.

Anything new baby related this week?  Nothing really new. Next appointment is Nov 2 and the anatomy scan is Nov 30!

Anything else you'd like to share? I just had the most amazing brownies ever!

    Have a great week, everyone!

Does everyone work outside the home (PT/FT?)?  Will that change with the addition of this little one?  I work full-time currently.  I'm still evaluating my options for after the baby is born.  My DH and I are trying to figure out what would be best for our family.

Anything new baby related this week? I had my 16 week checkup today.  Everything looked great and the heartbeat was so much louder than the last time I heard it.  My dr. and I had a great conversation about weight gain.  My family and some friends have been commenting on how they don't think I'm gaining/eating enough.  I was not worried about this at all, but it was nice to hear my dr. say that I'm right on track.  Very much looking forward to our anatomy scan in 3 weeks!

  • How's everyone doing here at the beginning of week 16?  I can't believe how quickly time is going!  Me neither. After feeling like my MS was getting better I just felt sick again for the last few days, very annoying.

Are you a "been there, done that" mom?  If so how many little ones do you have?  Ages?  Do they know about the pregnancy? First baby

Does everyone work outside the home (PT/FT?)?  Will that change with the addition of this little one? Full time and will go back to full time after my 6 weeks.

Anything new baby related this week?  Just looking at health insurance for the LO this week. I found out my work's insurance is soo expensive to anyone beyond me (which is sad since the coverage is so terrible). My DH's insurance is just OK but in comparison it is no contest.  Also I found out I need to study my fruits better, I seriously would think an avocado is smaller than an orange.

  • we're all good here. We went out and bought the crib, change table and dresser all for $200 total! The crib isn't exactly what we wanted but it's the right colour and the right price! We've picked out a bedding set but haven't bought it yet.. and we have a few stuffed animals for the nursery.

I work FT and will likely go back after my mat leave.. though we're hoping that once DF is finished his schooling I'll be able to just work part time.

Our next appointment is in a week and a half and our first ultrasound is 10 days after that. Can't wait!!

  • I'm a first time mom.  I work FT, and will be returning to FT after my 3 months of maternity leave.  I'd rather do part time honestly, 3 months seems too young to leave the baby with someone else all day :(

I just scheduled my anatomy scan for November 30!  It's still so far away!

I've been considering buying a home doppler off of Amazon.  I get nervous a lot because I don't feel very pregnant so I'm always afraid something's wrong.  But then I was thinking maybe it's not worth it at this point since within a few weeks we should be able to feel the baby moving for reassurance.  Any opinions?  Save the money or spend it? :)

  • Are you a "been there, done that" mom?  If so how many little ones do you have?  Ages?  Do they know about the pregnancy?  We have a daughter and she is 24 months old.  Those first two years have gone by so quickly.  We have not directly told her about her future sibling but we have been pointing out Big Sisters in our books.

Does everyone work outside the home (PT/FT?)?  Will that change with the addition of this little one?  I work less than 15 hours a week and I will continue with this schedule.  My husband works second shift so he stays with our daughter while I work and my MIL sometimes covers an hour or two until I get home.  It is so wonderful!

Anything new baby related this week?  I had an appointment this morning and everything looks good.  I had a couple questions about weight gain since I am overweight and my doctors are so wonderful.  I have had such a great experience with this practice!  We scheduled the anatomy scan for 11/23 and we are team green.

Anything else you'd like to share?

    Have a great week, everyone!

  • Are you a "been there, done that" mom?  If so how many little ones do you have?  Ages?  Do they know about the pregnancy? Yes.  My DS is 15 months old.  We told him that he is going to be a big brother, but he obviously does not understand.  He does however like to lift up my shirt and touch my belly.

Does everyone work outside the home (PT/FT?)?  Will that change with the addition of this little one? Yes, FT.  Unfortunately no.  DC2 will go to daycare as well.

Anything new baby related this week?  I for sure felt the baby kick on Saturday morning!  I've been feeling flutters since 13 weeks, but this was a definite kick.  I pushed in the same spot and felt the same flicking kick two more times.  Very exciting because with DS I had an anterior placenta and rarely felt him kicking.

  • Doing good. I must have gotten my energy back, we were at a convention this weekend and I was on my feet for 14-16 hours a day the past few days and still feel fine, which is awesome.

Are you a "been there, done that" mom?  First time mom.

Does everyone work outside the home (PT/FT?)?  Will that change with the addition of this little one? I have been unemployed since we relocated this spring for MH's job. I have stopped looking for now and will probably wait several months after this LO gets here to start looking again. When I do start looking I'll probably be looking for something PT.

Anything new baby related this week?  I popped a belly last weekend, which is nice. I will probably have to break down and buy some maternity pants the next week or two. (I hate shopping so I am dreading this.)
