Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Cervical ectopic

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this - I know its relatively rare (lucky me) but I figured I'd ask and see if anyone else has gone through it.

Re: Cervical ectopic

  • Mine was a tubal ectopic but I have heard of someone who used to be on BOTB board who had a cervical ectopic.

  • My cycle buddy (another DE recipient) is going through this now. I told her about your post and maybe she'll jump on. Sadly it's her second time on these boards this year, too.

  • Thanks - I'm just curious what is normal for the process of healing and treatment. I try to get answers from my doctor but they've only had a few cases - or so they say, they had to look it up online which isn't very confidence inspiring. I'm trying to be patient and let the methotrexate do its job but they don't even give me any basic idea of how long this might take. The stuff I've found online isn't very encouraging either.

  • I just had a laparoscopy to remove my left tube because of a tubal pregnancy. I dunno if they do the same for cervical but its my third day since the surgery and I'm pretty friggin sore. They offered me methotrexate but he said that most often they have to go in a remove the fetus surgically anyway. They said the drug could take up to two weeks. I was on a little bit different of a time scale cause if it being in my tube and they were worried about it bursting. Whatever you do do not look online!! You will scare the crap out of yourself. I know its hard but just be careful! I hope things work out for you, my thoughts are with you.

  • Hi JanaDoll, thanks for your response. I am sorry about the loss of your tube.  They refused to do surgery on me b/c of the bleeding risk and potential need for hysterectomy, so I guess I just need to learn some patience and let the methotrexate do its job. I hope you are on the mend and feeling better soon.

  • Thanks Izabella. I sure hope you don't need a hysterectomy. If they caught yours early on then the chances of the methotrexate working is pretty good. I was to far along and my tube to damaged for it but I'm glad they caught it before it burst which could lead to death from internal bleeding. They sure need revamp the sex ed classes in school cause they sure don't tell you all the stuff that could go wrong with a pregnancy and its not as easy to get pregnant as they say. I sure hope things work out for you, it's all so scary. Let me know what happens, if you need help I'm here for ya chicky!! GL!

  • Thanks you are too sweet! And seriously about the sex ed, how come they don't discuss the risks of ectopic, molar, and pregnancy loss in general?!? If they want to scare teens out of sex tell them about the dangers and how awful m/c is and being a pincushion. All the stuff you don't know until you're in it. I often wonder if m/c comes as such a huge shock and letdown because until you have gone through it you have no idea how common it is and since it is taboo to talk about openly, it is like some hidden secret horror. I mean... you'd think if 1 in 4 women experience it, there would be more information and education about it. I am grateful that they caught our ectopics early, I shudder to think of how things might have gone 20 years ago. But I totally agree, all this technology and yet no education is kind of baffling. *HUGS* Thanks so much for your sweet post and right back atcha if you need any help! Smile

  • hi izabella,

marriedasportsnut told me about your cervical ectopic. i'm so sorry you're going through this. i was also diagnosed with a cervical ectopic recently and had my methotrexate shot last thursday. it's still early for me, so i don't know how long it will take, but the doctor told me that it usually takes longer to treat a cervical ectopic than it would to treat a tubal ectopic.  i think it's because they want to avoid surgery as much as possible.

anyways, i'm so sorry to hear that someone else is going through this.  feel free to PM me if you want to talk further.

    take care
