Success after IF

Sad Thing About TTC #2

We have been trying for only 2 months but I feel like the BIG disappointment of AF showing up is the same as it was after ttc DS#1 for over a year - I guess b/c I know what I am in for. For the past 13 months, I have had AF every 30 days - the first time of my life I was regular not being on the pill. The past 2 months while we've been ttc, AF has been at 34 days. Thanks nature's little cruel joke. We are lucky in that DS#1 was a clomid baby, but we currently have no IF coverage and I am so scared baby #2 will be harder to TTC :(  Most of my friends already have #2 or are pg and I think that IF will be even harder the 2nd time around b/c I know what I am missing. Just thought I would vent to ladies who understand - thanks for listening.

Re: Sad Thing About TTC #2

  • I feel your pain, right down to the delayed AF...my cycles average 29 days and when I got a BFN last month it was 33 days.  Way to mess with my head!
Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.
    LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
    LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
    Life is beautiful!

  • TTC this time around is definitely much more complex...I know exactly what we'll be missing if we don't get (and stay) pg, plus I also have issues with knowing when we need to quit for DD's sake. I really hate TTC.

  • Sometimes you think that because you've already been through it that it should be easier but I've found that it doesn't ever really get easier and if anything, it's harder because like you said, you know what you're in for and how hard and long the road can be.  Big hugs to you.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
