BF - morning bottle?

Good morning ladies!

This question is for the mom's who pump and have LO's who STTN.

I'm going back to work next week and am trying to get DS used to drinking from a bottle.  He's had a couple of bottles here and there during the day, but never first thing in the morning until today.  He normally eats 4 - 41/2 oz during a feeding when he gets a bottle.  This morning, though, after STTN and not eating for 12 hours (he's such a good sleeper!) he GULPED down the 4 1/2 oz bottle.

I'm wondering if I should give him more in the morning since he's gone so long without eating or if I should stick to the standard 4 1/2 oz.

Thanks for your help.  I've also posted this on the BF board.

  • DS's standard bottle is also 4.5 oz.  However, some mornings he will eat 5 or 6 oz.  I'd say add half an ounce and see if he eats it.  A lot of times we will give DS 5 oz then watch him after he's done.  We offer an extra ounce if he still looks hungry and see if he takes it.  Most of the time he does.
