DD's name is Parker and we love it. We are having a hard time finding a name for a little sister. For a while, we thought we were having a boy. We were surprised when we were told 100% it is a girl, so we are stuck... mn will be Eileen. Family name, no changing it. We are thinking we want something unisex or uncommon - our last name is VERY common. WDYT?
Ryder
Finley
Elliot
P.S. If you hate unisex/uncommon names, I understand... mainstream, top 100 names are NMS. But we are looking for something different ![]()

Re: unisex or uncommon name for sister
I'm not really a fan of any of your choices. If I had to pick one I guess I'd pick Finley.
Other suggestions:
Rowan, Sydney, Rory, Jordan, Casey, Cameron, Quinn, Kelly, Reese.
Andi
Laken
Presley
Drew
Lark
Ellis
I love Finley for a girl.
I really don't like Ryder for a girl or a boy and I'm not sure how I feel about Elliot for a girl. I always think of Elliot Stabler from Law & Order: SVU.
Other options to go with Parker: Quinn, Sydney, Reese, Kendall.
I love Elliot for a girl. I cant use it since I have a cousin with that name
But I like Elliot, Rowan and Laiken. Finley is slowly growing me.
Henry, William, Thomas, Kenneth, Gordon, Clifford, Charles
My DD is Avery and we really like Reese if our next is a girl.
Others: Rory or Rowan.
LOL
ETA: I am a fan of unisex names for girls. Some I like- Finley, Elliott, Quinn (but not with your mn), Avery, Rowan, Dylan, Peyton
Im most definitely not a fan of unisex names. I don't l;ike the sound of Elliot Eileen. OF your 3 selections, Finely is the best.
How about Avery, Jamie, Lindsey, Dana, Stacy.

Not sure where to go from here.
The issue I have is that none of these names are actually unisex. Saying you like boys names on girls is cool - but passing them off as unisex...I just don't see it.
I did find an interesting list:

You don?t need to name your little girl a boy?s name to avoid mainstream/top 100 names. There are plenty of incredible girls? names that are uncommon. The names you?ve listed aren?t unusual at all, they?re just boy names you?re using on a girl.
Check out the SSA names list past 300, or 500 even. Look at names from other decades. Check out the lists on nameberry.com. You can find great names for girls in these places!
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
How about Brynn? It is a boys Welsh name.....although it is all girl here in the US.
Sloane?
Love Sloane and Parker together.
out of your list, I only like Finley.
I guess I should have clarified that we don't like really "girly" names, and most of the top 100 names end in the very feminine "ah" or "a" syllable. I should also have said that we LIKE that Parker (and Ryder) are primarily used for boys. We want a strong name for a girl. I don't get the suggestions of Kendall and Syndney... very common! But thanks for everyone's input

i would stay away from ryder because of the (what i thought were) obvious and unflattering sexual connotations.
from your list, i think elliot elaine sounds best, with finley elaine a close second.
good luck!
