My husband and I recently found out we're relocating to Houston. We'll move in late January when I'll be about 25 weeks pregnant. It looks like his office is located on the northwest side of town, so we'll be looking for a nice, family oriented suburb in that area...along with a new OB, a pediatrician, etc. Please send along any recommendations (or no-no's)! Thanks in advance

Re: NEW to Houston! And to mommyhood.
Good areas on the Northwest side are Cypress and Tomball.
You might have to search for an OB to take you at 25 weeks. I know that my ob won't take anyone after 14 weeks or something like that. I've heard that about a few other doctors. Hopefully it won't be an issue for you.
Once you know what area you are moving to it will be easier for people to recommend a pediatrician. Houston is pretty BIG!
Congrats on the baby! Like pp said Houston is pretty big so when you find out more detailed on where in the NW it will be easier for you to pinpoint. Is he near 290 or 249 area? My ob is off 249 near Willowbrook Methodist Hospital. He is a part of Northwest Womens Center (you can look them up online). I have seen most of the staff (a different person from there delivered each of my kids since they wanted to be born on weekends or holidays) and they all seem great. Our pediatrician is a part of Texas Children's Pediatrics Associates off Cypresswood. They have many locations on the northside.
Cy-Fair and Klein are probably the school districts you would be near and both are good. You can look up stats and such on their websites. Also go to har.com which is a houston real estate webpage and it will help you start house hunting and checking out neighborhoods and price ranges. As you search you will have more questions and feel free to ask.
The good news is there's tons of nice areas along 290 and 249.
Are you looking for a brand new neighborhood? (further out, longer commute, no trees, lots of young families, cookie-cutterish houses) Something more established? (some closer in with shorter commutes, some not, big trees, bigger yards, mixed-age neighbors)
