So last time I went the Target/Old Navy/Motherhood route and looked like a slob for 6 months - I think it's mainly b/c I have a sort of weird body shape and my pants were sagging in the rear something awful.
This time - I just don't give a rats ass and I'm going to spend way more $'s to look good in my maternity clothes. Anyone have any recommendations beyond Pea in the Pod?? That's the only place I know of that has "nice" materinity clothes.
Target will be ok for the weekend wear, but for work - I have to step it up this time...
Re: High End Maternity Clothes This Time
Me too! Really nice clothes that are flattering. My two cents though is that their stuff runs a little small...since it ships from England you don't want to have to send back and forth, so just order one size bigger than you would think. (They may actually have a good size chart though so maybe just measuring yourself will work.)
I have some nice Pea and a Pod stuff too that I am excited to pull out again. I agree with you on buying some nicer things - I actually found myself wearing those items over and over. Some of the very cheap stuff stains and tears really easily and looks even worse quickly.
YES! Like I paid 50 bucks for a sweater at one of the less expensive places and it was pilling like mad in a couple of months!!! Better to spend the 200 and have a sweater that will LAST, even after pregnancy - in my opinion.
Actually all of my stuff is unwearable that I bought last time. I'm not even sure why I packed it all away!!!

$200 for a maternity sweater??? I would NEVER spend $200 on a normal sweater.
I hear you! I went in a Pea in the Pod this weekend searching for my favorite seven jeans in maternity and was SO disappointed!
I'm a size 0 - 2, but am all legs and when I asked the girl there if they had any long lengths, she pointed to one pair of jeans, and one pair of black pants, that only ran in small, medium, large.
Since my normal jeans are still fitting fine, I'm currently ordering a few pairs of long lengths from Old Navy to try, but I feel like they're going to last for 1-2 washings, and not be nice enough to wear to work. I'd much rather have a few quality staples that I don't mind wearing all the time as long as they hold up and still look nice. This is going to be a challenge!
try some consignment shops. many have a good selection of multiple name brand. mimi maternity has some too.
I am with you though this time around. I just bought a nice wool jacket and sweater from pea in the pod.
Me too!
I don't need them yet, but I'm already eyeing some Sevens and Citizens jeans, and I'll buy higher end clothes for work and going out on dates as well.

Not recommending a specific brand, but if you join Gilt, Rue La La, and Zulily they offer sales on some great maternity clothes. If you need an invitation to any of those sites, I'd be happy to give you one. I've found at least 5 great, higher end maternity pieces from Gilt and Rue La La in the past month. GL.
Good find on the Paige's! I wear them non-mat and they are all like 36" so I always get them altered. I'm also 5'2" and 0-2. I'm going to check out ebay too!
Plus, lots of the stuff on sale is spring/summer. I think I'll buy some tops and just hang onto them since I know I'll be wearing them after this winter. They had lots of Michael Stars tshirts.
That's what I'm planning on doing.

Thanks! That's really interesting - that thought would have never really crossed my mind. I'll let you know if I have any luck anywhere, but as of right now it looks like I might be heading to the tailor!
Oh these are nice! A little pricey but I can see a few pieces already that would be worth it.
hahaha, I wouldn't spend $200 on any item of clothing! Golly, that's an electric bill...
