So, what do you do when..(halloween costume)

What do you do when your LO wants nothing more than to rip their halloween costume off?

I'm sewing DS a pirate costume and tried the shirt on today. He flipped out and was pulling at it to get it off. The fabric is soft, there's nothing poking him, or that could itch him either. He freaked right out.

I think Halloween this year might be a big flop costume wise...

  • Oh no!

When DS gets like that I try to distract him with a song, or just something loud and silly.. once I get it on I hurry to distract him again with a cool toy or something of interest (Daddy's cell)

  • DS has the Hamburger costume from Old Navy and he immidiatly grabs the front fabric and tries to pull it off and almost falls on his face in the process ive been putting it on him for weeks trying to get him use to it and its gotten better showing him himself in the mirror right after i put it on helps distract us and then distracting with toys he tends to forget its on.
  • Distraction? or with DD we when wedo her hair we show it to her in the mirror...that can SOMETIMES prevent her from ripping them out...

DD is snow white this year, and I'm well aware that the bow she wears will probably only last 5 minutes...I didn't even bother to make the collar or cape because I KNEW that wasn't going to happen.

  • DD's costume is going to flop too. It has this adorable duck head but she rips the hat off!
