Question for MoMs of IDs...

Can you tell your babies' cries apart?  DH and I have been trying to guess who's crying to see if we can... and we're failing miserably.  Is there a point where you've been able to tell patterns of crying from one baby to another...

just curious...

Re: Question for MoMs of IDs...

  • Mine are only 2 weeks old but nope. I can't tell one cry from another. I can barely tell one face from another. I had to paint a few of R's fingernails so DH and I could tell who's who.

  • Occassionally, but most of the time no way.

Don't worry!  It gets better and easier!   I still paint their toenails as a backup for their grandmas.

  • I couldn't for a long time... our girls are approaching 10 months and just in the last month or so I can tell their cries apart pretty easily (and their personalities have really been differing lately too, so I think that's part of it).  DH has actually been pretty good at picking out their cries for the last few months!

  • Sometimes yes and sometimes not. They do have different crying "habits" but as soon as I think I have it all figured out, they switch on me or something.

  • Sometimes. They were 2 lbs apart at birth and it was easier because Katelynn's cry was more powerful than Leah's. Now that they're both bigger, though still about 2 lbs apart, it's sometimes harder to tell. Most of the time I can - they just have a little bit different sound.
  • Yes I could from pretty much the beginning only because preston had the and still does have the worlds loudest cry I have ever heard! Jordana always had a softer cry!

    this!

It seems like we're headed in this direction.  It just never occurred to me that it would be something we'd have trouble with!  I was so worried about telling their faces apart, but i never even thought that their cries would be the same (seriously, duh)
