At Jake's 1 year well visit last week, I was surprised that he weighed only 19 lbs. 11 oz. Going into the appointment, I was sure he had broken the 20 lb. mark! Sure, I expected that as a preemie, his early month weigh-ins would be on the low end, but hoped that by a year he'd be catching up to his peers. He's only in the 10th percentile for weight. He's in the 50th percentile for height though.
Anyone else have a little one who finally caught up?
Re: Anyone have a baby under 20 lbs. at 1 yr?
I dont remember exactly what DS was but he was small. I think around 25% for weight and 50% for height. We'll see how he is at 2 years but that is why there is a growth chart, kids are at all different heights and weights. Was your doctor concerned? Is he gaining ground or losing it?

Elizabeth was just under 20 pounds too at 1 year, which was around 25-30th percentile in weight. But she's always been smaller (6 pounds 5 oz at birth at 40w5d). She was just under 22 pounds at 15 months.
Some babies have to be in the lower 50th percentile! Sounds like it's normal for your guy if his own growth curve has been consistent.

my DS was 24lbs at his 1 year appt (he was 7 weeks early) and in the 90th percentile. my full term nephew was less than 20lbs at his 1 year. i think it just depends on the little one.
My DS was just under 20 lbs at 1 year. He is now 31 lbs at 27 months. I think his increase in weight has to do with growing out of some of his food intolerances.
Anyways, I know of lots of LOs that weren't 20lbs at 1 year, so try not to worry.
The pedi wasn't concerned, he just suggested that we give Jake lots of full fat foods: olive oil, butter, whole milk cheeses, and other dairy, etc.
Thanks ladies, for reminding me that (as usual) all kids are different!

Megan was 17lbs 10oz at her 12mo appt. By 15mo, she was up to an even 19lbs.
She had doubled perfectly by 6mo and then was just under tripling by a year.
She's continually been around the 5th percentile for weight. For a while she dropped to the 3rd, but caught back up again.
As for height, she'd been in the 50th almost all along and then pulled into the 75th+ at 15mo. You never know. She's definitely growing, just not filling out.
Megan Hope 2yrs 3months
They arrived at 36 weeks after PTL and bedrest for 14 weeks.
G weighed 18lbs even on his first birthday. He's always been small.
He's now in the 25th percentile which is an improvement given that he was under 5th for awhile.
I wouldn't stress out unless your pedi is concerned.

yes. Ethan was close to 17 lbs at a year, like 16lbs 12oz or so. And he was nearly 9lbs at birth
He is now about 50%, about 29 lbs at 27 months
Jordana was under 20lbs at 1 year, actually i don't think she broke 20lbs until she was closer to 16 months old. Preston was over 24lbs at 1 year though. Brady is now 11 months old is probably about 24lbs, yup i am pretty certain brady weighs more than his big sister!
Every kid is different and my ped said they were/are fine and not to be worried about it!
nora was only 13# 10oz at 10 months (that's 0% for weight). i doubt she'll gain 6.5 pounds in the next 2 months.
she was a preemie so i'm not too worried.
After a loss at 13wks and years dealing with IF and failed treatments (3 failed IUI and 1 failed IVF), we have been blessed with DS (surprise BFP) and now his little sister (2nd round of clomid and TI) on her way.
