First off let me say that I LOVE my unit!! Everyone there is awesome and we have a lot of fun even while working. With that said...At 27 weeks pregnant I am still going to battle assemblies. Obviously, I can't perform like I did a few months ago...and being the only female in my platoon doesn't help the fact that I stand out. My problem is that I hate being treated as if I can't do anything. No, I can't do PT with the guys like I use to...but I can exercise at my own pace and modify certain ones. Grrr...I'm pregnant...I didn't lose my arms and legs....I literally spent most of my time just sitting down, bored...I hate that. Other than that...I was happy that my commander commended me for choosing to stay in the Army even though I am starting a family. ![]()
I also had a Spanish test today and because I was gone all weekend I didn't get much of a chance to study. I explained this to my Spanish teacher, but she really didn't care and wouldn't allow me to take a make up test. Needless to say I now have to do extra-credit work! And since Army TA is paying my tuition...I have to pass the class!!!
It's just frustrating!!!
Re: Drill mini-vent
It sucks, I know. I hated not being able to go to the range or do any physical training. Most of my training is physical. I did what I could. I still lead classes.
Couldn't you have studied durring your down time or when you were just sitting around? What about durring the evenings?
I planned on bringing my textbook and flash cards but totally forgot them on my desk at home. Which is my fault!! I don't live close to my unit and stay at a hotel during the drill weekends. I didn't get home until last night. Still, totally my fault for forgetting my materials...but at least I still have time to bring my grade back up. I'm just mad at myself for that really.
I'm going to miss weapon quals. in Jan.!! SO disappointed. My unit has qualifications the weekend after my due date.
I guess I will be so distracted with my LO I won't have too much time to worry about it then. I
You could volunteer to instruct classes. Prior to each weapons qual the unit is supposed to run PMI and BRM. You can instruct just have an AI to demo the prone and kneeling for you. It will give you an opportunity to work with Soldiers without over doing it.
You could also take up some of the admin duties (sucks I know). Learn to scrub promotion packets or NCOER's every Soldier should be comfortable with those tasks since as a Jr or Sr leader you'll have to complete those items.
You could also learn a little about the role of the Training NCO. How ATRRS works, what the NCOES slots look like. Reach out beyond your normal duty scope and broaden your knowledge base as a Soldier.
You can also take some online courses and improve your promotion packet. I was pregnant 3 times as a drilling reservist... I know your pain. Good Luck!
