Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I know we discuss "how many kids" all the time, but here's a twist...

If money were absolutely no issue at all, how many kids would you go for? I'd personally say 4s or 5!

  • Hmm.. I'd say 4.  I have always had my heart set on that number, but that will never happen due to finances.

  • I think I'd have 4...but it will only be 1 (or maybe 2....I'm hopeful.)
  • At least 4. But money is a problem...not for raising them, but for having them. IVF is 'spensive :(
  • I  want another living child, so I'd say 2.

  • I've always wanted 7, like the Von Trapps or the Weasleys!  We have a deal that if we win the 50 million dollar jackpot, we can have seven!

  • I would probably still say 2 (DS and future baby). ?Maybe 3, but probably not. ?I also have 2 SD's that live with us 1/2 the time.
  • My limiting factor us patience, so one.
  • I would say 3.  But since this is not our life I think it'll be 2 and done.

  • I would say 3..but if we get a girl next time, I'm done. That way I have a boy and a girl. If not I will try for a 3rd, money or not. I want to at least try for a girl!

  • I would have 2 more biological children and adopt 3 children.

I would also have about 3 or 4 dogs too :) Rescued pitbulls or grey hounds.

  • I could add a third kid....maybe.

  • Is it all theoretical?  Like even not having the kids we have now?  I'm at a hard point in parenting, so I'd say 1 if that's the case.

But otherwise, 2 is our limit no matter how much money we have.  It used to be 4.

    ha, me too!
  • If money were no issue and I didn't have to work and I wasn't already 35 y.o. I'd probably have 4 or 5. But since money is an issue and I work full time and I am 35 y.o. we're going to stop at 3, due this February.
  • four:)

  • Still two, I think. It's not just about the money. It's also about having enough of Dh and I to go around. We don't want to be harried, harassed parents. We want to have enough time, attention, etc, for both kids. I don't think any amount of money could help with that, unless we were independently wealthy and could just both stay home all the time :D But even without needing to work, we'd both want to, because we are passionate about our fields.

Some parents manage to have a houseful of kids and do it really, really well, but since having DS, DH and I really don't think we could manage more than one more.

  • As long as we're removing limits, i'd like to remove the age limitation on safe pregnancy.. I'd say 6- one more singleton now, then another set of twins.

No. Even if money weren't an issue, the planet is still grossly overpopulated.

Oh, good God. Now I want to change my answer to 20. Give the Duggars a run for their money.

    Yes

But I have a feeling that is our UO.

LOL! But would you do a tv show, or be a quiet, private family of 22?

Me too!  Except I'd adopt senior dogs of all breeds (with a preference towards beagles).   I'd love a lot of kids, but I don't feel the need nor do I want to give birth to all of them.

Not bad at all - that was my first thought :)

I'd take that extra money and buy a house, and put the rest in her college savings.

Just the one I have. Money is a fact of life and you need to be able to take care of children financially, but it certainly isn't my motivator or detractor from having another one. I just don't want to be pregnant again, I don't want another baby, I feel my family is complete, period.  I could be a billionaire and it wouldn't change my mind.

The only difference is that maybe I would be a foster parent to older children down the road if I had more room, more help, etc.

  • Money doesn't change it.  Still two.
Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker Pregnancy Ticker
  • 2 more biological, 2 adoptions. (we're planning on 2 more bio and 1 adopted, so the unlimited money factor would just add another adoption onto our plans).

  • Just the two we have.  Money is not why we stopped at two.
  • Honestly, money doesn't make me think of how many kids we will/won't have.  Money seems to be the easiest part: the newborn phase, balancing a marriage and IL's, etc...seems the hardest.  So, money or no money: 2 kids.  And only one more so that Noah isn't an only child.
  • $ is not the factor for us... it's my sanity! And the added stress having a second child added to our relationship, and TIME for the kids and still time for myself...I already feel like I can't balance my time between the girls the way I'd like to, I can't imagine how that will feel with more.

Because of all that, my limit I think will be at 3. DH is done w/ 2 for all those reasons. I think I could handle 1 more.

  • If money weren't an object, I'd probably want four!

    We're hoping to have three.

  • Three is the plan for now, but if money were no issue we might consider another.

  • Yeah, for us it's not about the money at all. It's more about still wanting time as a married couple and not going from Kid A's activities to Kid B's etc etc. It's also the toll on our relationship and lack of sleep and all the crappy things that come along with the good ones.

We might have one more in a few years but we're not sure yet.
