Trying to Get Pregnant

Keeping TTC from your parents FAIL.

My parents came to visit yesterday.  They are really allergic to cats, and we have two, so we were doing lots of cleaning to make them comfortable--vacuuming furniture, using the edger attachment in corners and along the wall, dusting everything, the works.  I was also trying to get lunch ready and shower before they and my aunt showed up.  I totally forgot about my pregnancy tests in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom.  My mom is very much the type to open up the cabinet and peek inside.  I didn't remember it until about an hour before they left.  I'm pretty sure she opened them; I thought I heard a cupboard door close once when she was in there.  Oops.

Luckily, she's not the type to say anything about it.  She probably won't bring it up until I get pregnant and we announce it.

HAHA!  We are having company come stay with us this week (my great-uncle's widow) and I was just thinking how I need to put all that stuff away in the master bath before she gets here (my parents will come up for dinners while she is here)  My mom totally opens the cabinets too---is that a generational thing?  I don't check the cabinets when I go to peoples houses!!!

  • I would be super annoyed if my mom went through my medicine cabinet. She absolutely shouldn't say anything if she did see them since she shouldn't have been nosing around in there anyway.

My mom just had to get some alcohol in me and then ask if we were planning on having another baby anytime soon and I spilled everything.

Hopefully it won't be long before you get a BFP and it won't matter if your mom knows anyway.

Hahaha that's kinda cute he picked your grandma to tell!

  • Hahaha! At least she's not the type to grill you about it. I'm so lucky my mom isn't snoopy. But then I only live a mile away from her so I just go to her house instead of having her over here much.

I'm guessing it is a generational thing.  Ah well.  I'm not really annoyed by it, I guess I expect it out of my mom and other than that, we have nothing to hide.  If she were the kind to snoop and bring it up and ask me about it or tell my dad and aunt and everyone else in the world, it would bother me more.  When I realized and told DH I'd forgotten that, he agreed that she probably did look, but wasn't too bothered by it either.  If she does bring it up, I might tell her, but we'll see.  They never bothered us about when we were going to get engaged, and told me before they wouldn't bother me about having kids.  She said when it happens, we'll tell them, so they don't need to worry.  I'm glad for that!  Still, though, we wanted to keep it quiet!

  • I brought one of my girlfriends into my bedroom the other day without thinking, and I had 4 OPT's sitting on the dresser.

However, she knows nothing about TTC to she assumed that they were pg tests. I ended up telling her anyway. She promised not to tell. Stick out tongue

  • My brother came over a few weeks ago, and I was putting away my Target bags, and he totally saw my EPT digital tests. Oh well now!

  • I have such a big mouth I could only keep TTC'ing a secret from my in-laws for 2 months and then we had to tell them. Actually it's been really nice to have people to talk to face to face.
