Bjorn is fine if its a small baby- I think. Many of my friends have it but say its not comfortable for long time wearing of baby. I have the ergo but the infant insert wasn't good for my DS- he was a summer baby and it was just to hot for him. We got the Beco carrier and it has worked better for the summer months. GL!
We have the new Bjorn Comfort, the ergonomic Bjorn with the waist belt that shifts the weight off your shoulders and onto the waist. I like that the baby can face out, which it can't in the Ergo. However, the Ergo is about $60 cheaper and it gets good reviews. It depends on what you want I guess.
First, there are a million different varieties of Bjorns now...so it really depends on which one you're considering.
I have the Bjorn Air, which is a slightly more expensive version of the classic Bjorn. The only difference is that it has a more breathable fabric. I actually loved it in the beginning, because it was SO much easier to get on and off than the Moby...but when DS hit about 16 lbs, it started to HURT. Even when he was really light, it would kill my back after about 45 minutes. I packed it away when DS was 4 months old and haven't looked at it since.
I then bought an Ergo. It's amazingly comfortable, even after hours of wearing a 20+ lb baby. Love that thing, and wish I'd had it earlier!
Definitely the ERGO! So much more comfortable to wear than the Bjorn and better for the baby ergonomically, according to many studies. Worth the extra money.
The Ergo is better for you and the baby. If you want something that can face out, go with a Beco.
Can the baby definitely face out in a Beco? I was reading amazon reviews last night, and one of them was complaining about how Baby Bargains says the baby can face out in a Beco but that it's not true.

I know Beco has a few different models. Maybe they can't all be used facing out?
ETA: I just looked at their website and not all models can be used facing out. The Butterfly 2 can be used for front or back carrying with baby facing you. The Gemini can be used for front, back and hip carrying. The baby can face out when used in the front carry in the Gemini.

Thanks, that's good to know. I don't know if it would be totally wasteful, but I'm tempted to get an Ergo Performance and a Beco Gemini. It seems like it might be nice to have more than one, especially if they can be used in different ways.

The Ergo is our favorite baby accessory!!!! My husband can wear it as well with a few adjustments. I think it is a great investment!
