My sister and my 13 year old niece are spending the weekend with me. My niece is all over Levi..which is fine, they live an hour away and she doesn't see him much. She had Levi upstairs to change his diaper, and decided she was going to get him dressed for the day. Fine and dandy.
After she changed his diaper, she flipped him over to his belly on the changer. And then LEFT HIM to go through the laundry basket of clean clothes sitting at the end of his crib. Next thing I hear is a big thud and Levi is laying face down on the floor.
She KNOWS he rolls over, and she has SEEN him wiggle all over the changing pad.
Levi is fine. I grabbed him right away and comforted him. I carried him back downstairs, him screaming his head off. My sister asked what happened and I told her. My niece didn't even apologize. She just said "oops"...and I think that's what frustrates me the most, is that she didn't apologize.
Confirms my thoughts that she will not be a baby sitter for us for awhile!
Re: Little man had a big fall.....
Aww I know how scary that can be! I'm sorry. I let Ares fall off the bed a couple months ago and I felt awful. But they are tough!!
She is only 13...I am sure it scared the crap out of her. She is probably scared sh*tless and doesn't know what to do or say to you about it. I guaruntee she will never forget it and never let a baby sit alone on the changing table ever again. Try not to be too mad at her....
DS #1- Ares Christopher
DS #2- Taj Lee
DD #1 Alba Gray
Baby #4- coming in May
This. My niece will be 13 in November and she doesn't have the capabilities to be left alone in the room with DS. Heck, my 17 year old niece doesn't even feel comfortable being left alone with DS. Niether of them have had experience with babies though.
I'm so sorry your son had a fall - but now you know she doesn't know how to care for a baby. I'm glad he's okay.
