My laptop is dying.....
DH wants to get me an iPad instead of a new laptop. He thinks it would be better for me. ...
I basically use the laptop for pictures, surfing the net and emails. Pretty basic. I don't know much about the iPad... I know it would take some getting used to... but I was going to ask for a Kindle for Christmas... and the iPad has the ability to download books ...
Anyway... just curious. If you have an iPad pros/cons as opposed to a laptop?
TIA
Re: NBR: iPad or Laptop?
Thanks for the review! I should have mentioned I will still have access to a laptop... we have 4 in our house (ridiculous I know... mine, his, his work laptop and his old one that he uses to download movies, etc to make sure they don't have virus's) So I will be able to use one if I need to. And again, it's mostly for fun as I don't work : )
DH did say there was a photo adapter so you can do everything with photos..? Wonder if that works well?. I don't have a smart phone either, so I'm a little dense when it comes to these things. Also there is a keyboard you can buy... But geesh once you get all the accessories it gets ridiculous.
Thanks again! Lot's to think about...
Your house sounds like ours. 4 or 5 laptops, an iPad and 2 smart phones
My DH just said he would never want to do anything with photos on it, plus with the fact that you can only get 64GB - it would fill up quickly with apps and pictures! But - if you have access to another computer that you could do your photo stuff on, I'd definitely say get the iPad!
I too have several laptops and an ipad. LOVE the ipad. It is wonderful for just surfing the web, and I have read a few books on it. I would much rather have one of these than a kindle.
I have the photo adapter. It is great for loading pics and viewing them. I don't think that the intention for the ipad is to be able to store all your pics on it. We have a home server that we back up our laptops and photos to. I would definitely recommend that.
One other thing we have thought of that you could do is download several movies on it from itunes and LO could watch them from the ipad on trips or around town. Our LO isn't due for several more weeks, but that's our plan. It's great for watching tv on via and web, and my husband likes to play games on it too. Definitely a must have. Hope my raving review helps.
BTW- my two year old nephew figured out how to use it after watching me for just a few minutes. It's amazing how intuitive it is to use.
