XP: NBR-Post pregnancy weight

So I am in a delima where I am starting back to work and nothing fits - except my pregnancy clothes.  I went and bought a few jeans (I work in a casual office) in a size that looked like what I would wear - boy is my idea of what I can wear really off.  I have to take them all back and get a bigger size.  I went up in 2 jean sizes - WTH!!!  I gained about 40 pounds during my pregnancy (alot of it was due to being on bed rest for 6 weeks and having nothing to do all day but eat and sleep) and have about 20 pounds to lose but alot to tighten up.

Has anyone else been/going through this?  I feel really upset but I'm trying not to let it get to me as that affects my supply (I'm dealing with low supply issues and having no freezer stash so she will be on formula since DD is taking everything that I can offer milk wise so I'm really upset on that issue - which is a whole different post altogether).

Anyone gain alot during their pregnancy and haven't lost any of it?  Anyone with a low supply lose weight successfuly without hurting what supply they have?

  • I also gained 40+ lbs while pg. I have lost 18lbs but I am still wearing my maternity clothes. I am not even close to fitting in any of my pre-pg clothes. I am living in anything cotton and am praying that I will be able to get at least close to my pre-pg weight or I am in big trouble having to buy a new wardrobe for work! I had a c-section so am not able to do any exercise yet but am not really into working out so this is going to be hard I am sure. I just wanted to say that I can sympathize. I also have a really low supply so I just pump what I can (usually only about an oz per pump) and bottlefeed formula in addition. GL!

  • Do not be hard on yourself- it is normal for the weight to come off a little slower.  Buy the bigger pants, feed your daughter, and pump.  You will be able to lose the weight later on.  With my previous pregnancies I nursed both babies to 6 mos and 10 mos and somewhere I have heard we hold onto an extra 10 lbs just as part of that.  When I was done I got on weight watchers and actually lost more weight than my pre-prego weight with my first.  Hang in there- it gets better and there will be time for it later on.

  • Our bodies just change during pregnancy.  I gained 30 lbs, have 5 lbs left to lose and can't fit into any pre preg clothes.  Everything just isnt as tight and weight has redistributed.  I bought a pair of jeans today and had to get 1 size larger than I normally wore.  And I'm in a crappy place because I cant wear preg clothes because those are too big to even look good.

  • I gained 42 lbs during my preg. all i did was feed DS and the weight came off. NOT all of it though. I still have about 7 lbs to lose.

The first time i tried on jeans after having DS, I had to wear a size 7 and I was a size 3 when i got pregnant. I've gotten down to a size 4/5 now but my body is just so different I dont know if I'll wear a size 2/3 again.

     It's a hard road, sista.

  • I was an 8/10 pre=preg and right now even a 14 is too tight at times. I had a c-section so my stomach was pushed up which is the issue. I am trying to figure out what will work when I go back to work in a week so we will see. I gained 40 lbs and have about 18 left to go.
