My laptop is dying.....
DH wants to get me an iPad instead of a new laptop. He thinks it would be better for me. ...
I basically use the laptop for pictures, surfing the net and emails. Pretty basic. I don't know much about the iPad... I know it would take some getting used to... but I was going to ask for a Kindle for Christmas... and the iPad has the ability to download books ...
Anyway... just curious. If you have an iPad pros/cons as opposed to a laptop?
TIA
Re: NBR: iPad or Laptop?
Hi,
I have an iPad, I love it. Think of it as an overgrown iPhone. If you don't get the 3G version, you have to have access to wireless internet. If you are using it for surfing the web and emails, then great. You can also use it for documents and Keynote (which is apple's version of powerpoint), but you can create them on the iPad and export them through email, but you can't import them onto the iPad. It's great for books, too!
I would still have access to a laptop at home for the other things the iPad couldn't do.... so I think that's swaying me in the iPad direction
Just wondering if it is as good as it's supposed to be
If you will need to do much typing, get the laptop. I have both and the laptop is much more versatile. I've heard you can get a keyboard for the ipad, but then you might as well have a laptop. Also the ipad is really slow using the internet through our wifi about 50% of the time for some reason. Not sure if that is just something in our configuration or due to the device.
I was concerned about this as well as I'm always taking pictures. But DH mentioned there is a camera adapter/usb so you can dowload your pics. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the info!
