OMG I started bleeding last night...

TMI, I know... So last night before dinner I noticed some bright red blood and it wasn't a bunch, but it was on a panty liner. I called the doctor and he said stay off my feet this weekend and come in for my ultrasound and apt on Tues (it was already scheduled). I've read some stuff online about this being semi-normal during pregnancy, but I'm only ten weeks along and didn't have this with my daughter. Anyone have anything similar happen? I hope this is not a miscarriage. Thanks.

  • I've been lucky enough to avoid scares like this, but I do think that it's fairly normal.  Good luck and keep us posted.

  • I actually had some fairly heavy bleeding at times during the first 8 weeks or so of my pregnancy, and brown spotting up until about 11 weeks.  It is definitely scary, but everything was normal for me.  It's worth getting checked out, but it should make you feel a little better that your doc didn't want you to come in right away.  If you have any cramping, I'd call again.  Good luck!

ETA: I didn't have any bleeding at all with my first, so I know how it's even scarier when you've had a "normal" experience before.

  • I had some spotting last week. Dr said it is normal and we're fine. Take it easy and I hope things go well for you.
  • It could go either way, that's the part that stinks about it.  I hope it's just a scare and nothing more.  In the meantime, take it easy, and hopefully Tuesday goes well.  HTH
  • I had something similar happen at 13 weeks.  I wiped and had bright red blood.  I panicked because having 2 prior miscarriages and no pregnancies with a baby at the end made me think it was happening again.  My OB got me in right away and sent me for an ultrasound.  Everything turned out just fine and Carter is a result of that pregnancy.  They ended up finding that I had placenta previa which is pretty common and it had resolved by the time I went back for my 20 week ultrasound.

Keep us posted.  I'll be thinking of you.

  • I had the same thing happen with DS.  It freaked me out since nothing like that happened with DD.  I bled on and off from weeks 8 to 18.  I completely understand the fear, and I hope it turns out to be just an inconvenience.
