Mom fail

Went to Stride Rite this evening to get some new 'kicks.

And ummm... well guess I should have done it awhile ago. DS measured an entire size bigger than what he was currently sporting.

And while the manager was ringing me up she said "You might notice that your son will trip a little bit while getting used to these... it's because his toes won't be curled up anymore and they will be flat"

Embarrassed

Re: Mom fail

  • No she did not!  Wow!  Did you sucker punch her on the way out the door?  I felt bad not long ago too.  I just bought shoes for DD, but noticed her walking funny, and she took them off at every moment she found.  I was shocked that they fit one day and were way too small the next.  Scary.  I chalked it up to a healthy kiddo, and no worries.  New shoes rock!

  • I did the same thing on Tuesday.  I took him to get fitted for the first time and he measured at a 5.  I had him in a size 4!  I felt terrible, but he walks so much better in his new shoes.
  • Been there, done that. When Leah was learning how to walk, I bought her a bunch of size 1 shoes from Payless.com because she's so small and I figured she'd be wearing the smallest size. A couple of weeks later, my mom treated her to her first pair of Stride Rites and she was a 2.5. I felt like an idiot in the store. I didn't even want to put her old shoes back on to leave, lol. It's all a guessing game sometimes....!
