37+ weekers: do you ...

watch what you eat due to the possibility of going into labor at any given moment?

sounds excessive or wierd but i try to not eat certain things now if i can avoid it. Like extra garlic-y stuff, stuff that will make me gassy, etc

I just ate a big bowl of high fiber cereal though and it had me thinking about this. if I go into labor i'll prob be farting my way thru each contraction :P lol. ?

Re: 37+ weekers: do you ...

  • I remember doing that with my 1st pg for those exact reasons, haha. Didn't want to give my body any more fuel for pushing out poop on the table :)

This time, I guess I'm not so worried about it, maybe because I have been going to the bathroom a TON the last week so I just figure as soon as I eat something, it's going to be out within the day (sorry!!).

  • I'm going to make a point of not eating anything that would give me loose poo too close to my due date.  I don't really fear pooping while pushing... just the thought of it being runny and, like, splattering.  THAT is embarrassing to me.

  • I've thought of that, but no I haven't really changed my eating habits.   I had 2 bowls of oatmeal this morning and thought that probably wasn't a good idea..... ;)

  • I had diarrhea the full two hours I pushed.  I'm a l&d nurse and work with the doc every day-I didn't get to deliver at my hospital due to the need to be transported to the nearest hospital due to a partial abruption.  Honestly, I don't really even care.  My husband made sure they kept changing the pad.

    omg - thats horrible :(

... yeah i guess farting should be the least of my worries. ?

  • Well if it's anything like before I got my period my body switches over to diarrhea mode anyways so it doesn't matter what I eat.  I probably won't eat a gallon of creamed corn or anything though! :)
  • oh thats so true - its been so long i forgot about that! i ALWAYS had that happen right before my period :(

i guess that would be helpful in this case - i have heard its a symptom of labor so we'll see I guess.

  • Bah..at this point I want baby out so badly that I don't care what else comes out with her! I don't care if I even fricken drop my uterus or something, I just don't want to be pregnant anymore!!!!!

hahaha. i understand your desperation. ;)

  • I actually thought about this the other day, but I have mild IBS so it doesn't really matter what I eat.  Ick!
  • I have been avoiding things that might show up in my poo, like corn, beans, watermelon, etc. Not sure why though.... like it would be any less mortifying if they didn't see food in it?
  • nope...actually never even thought about that until i read your post!
  • Uh...no.

The thought honestly has never even crossed my mind...

  • I did for a while right before and maybe a few days after my due date.  Not only for stinky poo reasons, but also because I didn't want to 'retaste' a lot of things had I been vomiting.  Yuck!  Now I'm so depressed that baby isn't here yet I don't give a rip what I eat.  I ordered pizza hut for lunch and ate pizza, buffalo wings and breadstick!
