At 3:19am I gave up on trying to regulate my contractions with belly dancing moves. (They were working great on keeping the BH's coming, but not in regulating, or so I thought!) I laid down and allowed myself to be comforted by Liam kicking his daddy in the back before deciding to drift off to sleep. As I turned over, it seems nature had a different idea. My water broke and suddenly, with the sound of a pop and a warm wetness DH was up and ready for his son to come tearing onto the scene. We made phone calls, filled the birthing pool with air and water, woke friends and family from their comatose states, and finally, at 4:30am I submerged myself into the tub with my MW at my feet, my BFF behind me, rubbing my back, DD holding my left hand, and DH holding my right, all of them telling me how awesome I was.
At 5:51am I felt the urge to push, reached down and felt his head just barely inside me. From there on out, I was on my own. I talked to Liam between contractions, telling him that it was just us, that we were going to do it, and with each push, I felt him stretch me and knew just when to breathe through them so as not to tear or rip. At 6:02am, like a rocket, my son shot across the birthing pool and I picked him right up and put him on my chest.
I've never felt so alive. So powerful. So full of joy. My heart has melted and formed a child and his name is William Robert Thomas.
