They were on sale this week, so I picked up a couple last night while grocery shopping. I've never eaten a pomegranate before, but I love pomegranate juice, so I figured an actual, whole pomegranate would be even better, right?
Well, 20 minutes later after googling how to eat the damn thing, I was finally ready to eat said pomegranate. I knew they are full of seeds, but I didn't realize that's all that's in there (along with the pith).
Amazing. They are a bit tart, so I think maybe the pom wasn't quite ripe yet. But still extremely tasty.
I've been popping these seeds into my mouth for seriously the past half hour. Best. Snack-food. Ever. DH has been calling them "fruit nuts". I could be sitting here popping peanuts and cashews in my mouth, or chips, or any other number of crappy foods to satisfy my urge to always be putting things in my mouth (like the cigarettes I quit smoking, or the fingernails I bite).
I can't wait to put them in on my oatmeal, and then on a salad for lunch. Definitely my new favorite fruit!

First of all - HILARIOUS!
Don't worry, I have the same issue. That's why Starbucks mints are in my car, office, kitchen, etc!
Second, I agree that Pomegranate seeds are the best! You can buy them separately so that you don't have to actually go through the hassle of extracting them from the fruit. Yum!

During the school day, I'm usually putting a coffee cup to my mouth all day (don't want to touch anything with my hands since I'm working with first graders all day). I bet Freud would have a field day with me
Is it cheaper to buy prepackaged seeds or the actual fruit?
This! My mom's friend has a pom tree and the fruit are finally ripe for picking. I've got about 6 on my kitchen counter right now!
You and me both!
I'm not positive, but I think that the whole fruit is cheaper than the seeds alone. Unfortunately.
SUPER cheap! Mine were on sale, and they were 2/$4.
So cool! I would love to have a pom tree!!
I love pomegranates! Mmm delic! They are definitely cheaper in the fruit than separate. We use them quite a bit on fall/winter salads for some color. If I'm in a hurry I definitely will buy them preseeded but otherwise take on the mess myself.
