My son wants to get a job there. How hard is the process? Can a high school grad find a niche in the company? Is it true that you have to have an inside contact to get hired? What can you tell him to help the process? THANK YOU!!!!!
My DH is very specialized in his degree and what he would be hired to do. He has put in several applications (everything's online) and has never heard back. He had a personal contact at one point in time and that did nothing. I honestly think his issue is his degree and his "over-qualification" for several of the positions.....that and the positions he would be looking for are few and far between. With P&G I've always heard that personal contacts are very helpful when trying to get a job. My dad is retired P&G and worked there all his life and had a great run with the company up until the last few years. If your son could get in now, even with something trivial, I could totally see him working his way up and even having them pay for school in the future. A very close girlfriend's dad worked there without a college degree and worked his way up the ladder and retired a pretty well-off man. Maybe there are some ladies here that have better personal stories, but I would tell him to go for it. And just keep applying until he hears back from someone. Good luck!
The way they have it set up now, personal contacts don't really help and they set it up that way on purpose.
There are certain keywords that could flag his application for further review, but they have a whole group dedicated to triaging the applications. My boss was hiring someone and I had some old coworkers (who would have been great at the job) apply but my boss never even saw their applications.
My husband has worked there for 12 yrs now and was hired right out of college. He always has people asking him about how they can get hired. The application process is strictly online. Employees have no say in who gets interviewed, etc. It all has to do with the online test and then face to face interviews if you make it that far. As you can imagine with the economy and such, it is even harder to get hired right now due to the volume of applicants. It's not impossible. My dad got called in several months ago after going through the online process. It just all depends. It's definitely worth a try!

If he has a PhD, there is a group that reviews all of those regardless of the job applied for.
I honestly don't know what made him ask me about getting a job there. All I can do is tell him to try applying online. I kind of laughed a bit when he brought it up. The job market is tight. I think he needs to take whatever he can find, and then apply to the bigger companies. He only has a week to find a job before all hell breaks loose around here.
Thanks for the info! I will tell him to apply online.
I work at P&G. The only way to get in is to pass the online assessment test. My DH recently took it and did not pass (about 50% of people fail). Once you pass the test, then it's just a matter of you meeting the qualifications for the job and being selected for an interview. As others have said, it doesn't matter if you have inside contacts...take my DH for example.
