3.5lbs

I've got 3.5lbs left to lose until I reach my goal weight (for a grand total of 40lbs lost since February!!) I am super excited. But also super annoyed. These last ten pounds are really hard, it really is true.

I don't do workout DVDs, don't have the space to do them. I run a lot, and eat very healthy - except I do drink a lot of milk (1%). I've been considering eliminating milk/dairy for a while to see if that helps me to lose the rest of my weight.

Any suggestions? I'm running as often as I can find the time to, I really feel like I'm doing everything I can. This month so far I've only lost 1lb. I'd love to be at my goal by Thanksgiving.

Re: 3.5lbs

  • Have you tried *Clean Eating*? www.thecleaneatingmama.com , www.thekindlife.com and google Tosca Reno for her website's  on clean eating, busting plateaus, etc.

Its not so much a DIET as a way of eating differently.  Milk is not eliminated, but if you are plateau-injg you might want to consider eliminating milk & products, as the body does break it down into a form of glucose. Im sure if you do cut it out and replace it with Soy, rice or my favourite unsweetened Almond milk (vanilla is divine), and try using Goats cheeses for flavour ( a little goes a long way), you will see some changes.

As well, try limiting your fruits as well to 2 serves in the am - so your body can process them quickly, and use the natural sugars as fuel.

Good luck, you should be SO PROUD OF YOURSELF!

  • I hadn't heard of the clean eating - and I will definitely look at it. I know I can't get milk out of my diet completely because I love it so much. But changing a few things around with my diet would hopefully get me over this plateau.

    Thanks for the tips!

I am stoked about my weight loss. It feels awesome being able to fit in my old clothes again, and I love running, such a great stress reliever.

  • If you were not a runner before than you may just be carrying extra muscle and blood due to the increased exercise.  3.5lbs is so small.  I would recommend some strength training- lunges, squats, crunches, push-ups, bicep curls with 1 gallon of water.  These are all things you can do after your run 2-3x per week at home.  However, this may lean you out a bit and your clothes may even fit better, but not cause you to drop anymore weight because you're building muscle.  Milk is a great recovery drink after your workout because it has protein and some fat.  One last thing- make sure to consume calories that include protein within 30 minutes of ending your exercise.  This will replenish your lost glycogen and not cause your body to hold on to extra weight.

Sorry its so long.  Hope this helps!

Oh don't be sorry - I love long comments, lots of good suggestions!

I was actually an avid runner prior to getting pregnant with my daughter. I had lost 50lbs before having her, but it seems like losing the weight this time around is harder - my body shape is different, too. I hadn't thought about protein after I get done working out, I usually don't eat anything afterward because I get home from my runs at 9pm. So maybe drinking milk afterward as a recovery drink would be a good idea...
