Miscarriage

Hey Girls,

So unfortunately I had a miscarriage my first pregnancy.  This all started happening this past Friday and is just starting to end today.  All in all this expierence was horrible, and I wish it on no one.  Although I am very upset about this, I know God has a plan for my husband and I and we are both confident that our next try will be perfect.  So here is my question: We are both very anxious to get back into trying again immediately, so I was wondering how long we need to wait to start trying again?  Like I said the bleeding just stopped so does that mean I can start trying in a few weeks?  Help?  Thank you in advance..

  • I'm sorry about your loss.  You should ask your doctor when you are ok to TTC.

  • I'm very sorry for your loss.  I would definitely have a discussion with your doctor; however, most new research indicates that there is really no need to wait very long after a loss...assuming you are both physically and emotionally ready to TTC.
  • I wanted to say that I am VERY sorry for your loss. As far as trying again, I would talk to your doctor. Depending on how far along you were they may want you to wait a cycle, but probably not. It's always best to follow their advice though because everyone's situation is different. So sorry again.

Sorry - TTC = trying to conceive.

  • Oh you poor thing! I am so sorry for your loss! I know how you feel and I was in your shoes last year. My doctor told me to wait 2 cycles before TTC. Ask your doctor, his/her opinion might not be the same as my doctors.

  • I am so very sorry for your loss. Agree with the above, I would ask your DR.
  • Checking with your Doc is always a good idea.  My sister and sister-in-law both had M/C on their first pregnancy and ended up getting pregnant again within a few months and both delivered healthy baby girls.
  • Sorry to hear about your loss.  I m/c'd my first pregnancy too, and when I was finally done getting blood draws (I let it pass naturally), I had an appt with my doc and asked this question.  He told me I could start trying again right away or wait a bit... ultimately it was up to us.  At the time, my brother was ~9 mos from getting married in Chicago, so we opted to wait a few months before TTCing.  I'm glad we did- it gave me and my dh some time to heal and get ready to really TTC again.  I m/c'd at the end of July, it passed naturally over the course of a month, and then I became pregant again around December 1st.  I had 2 or 3 periods before we started actively trying.  GL, and know you are not alone!

  • Hey there - I also miscarried with my first pregnancy.  It was a lot rougher than I thought it would be.  My second time around worked like a charm, and I certainly hope the same for you!
  • Thank you girls for all of your support and help.  I am just still having issues trying to sort all of this stuff out.  I am confused on why this happened, mad that it happened, and really hoping God will bless me again with another baby.
  • So sorry for you loss.  Best wishes on TTC again though!  Stick baby stick!
