I am going to a birthday party coming up for a friend. The invite says "no gifts" just come have fun etc.
This is a close friend. Would you bring a gift anyway? I was going to still get her a gift, dh said the invite says no gifts and we should go by that. I am very close with this friend but we have never exchanged gifts before.
What do you do for "no gift" parties?
Re: What do you do? "no gifts"
Make a donation in the child's name to an org or buy an animal through Heifer Int'l. I think chickens are pretty cheap.
I know I know I know people say no gifts, but people still buy stuff, so it still feels so wrong to show up w/out a gift.
Christmas 2011
The party is for MY friend, an adult. Not a child.
Ah, gotcha. I misunderstood.
In that case I'd bring a nice bottle of wine. Easy, isn't technically a "gift" but you're still not showing up empty handed. Or a nice bouquet of flowers.
if it's a friend who is always having parties for herself, don't bring a gift
if it's a friend who is throwing herself a party and doesn't always do so, bring a gift even though it says no gifts. Not flowers. Not a lame bought-it-on-the-way-over bottle of wine. An actual thoughtful gift.
