NBR: Outdoor venue sites for a wedding?

Hi, I normally don't post on here, but I wanted to know if you ladies can assist me.

I am getting married in July 2010, and I am looking for outdoor wedding venues. My budget is quite tight (~75-100 people), and I know I would like both the ceremony and reception to be outdoors where I can also bring my own caterer.

If you have any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

  • Krippendorf Lodge at the Cincinnati Nature Center.  I think you can bring in your own caterer but it is probably cheaper to use Elegant Fare (who operates the rental of that facility).  I used them and also had a small budget but they were very willing to work with me.  I cut some corners by getting married on a Sunday (of a holiday weekend).

  • We were married at Benham's Grove in Centerville.  I knew it was the place as soon as I arrived there.  It is a beautiful 19th century home with beautiful grounds, a gazebo, pond, gardens, lots of picturesque spots.  We had a $5K budget, and had a tented outdoor catered reception for around 150 guests.  They allowed you to use your own caterer and purchase your own alcohol.  We were married 7 years ago so I don't know if anything has changed.  The house has a full kitchen, a large covered rear patio, a barn that can be used as well, and they have tables and chairs on hand.  We decided to use the patio for dancing, did not use the barn, and rented a tent to hold the reception under.  It is absolutely gorgeous.  We are not from Dayton and found it to be very accessible, as opposed to Ault Park gardens or other Cincy venues we were looking at (we lived in Fairfield).  Their website is www.benhamsgrove.com but it isn't working for me right now.  If you have any questions, let me know!

  • I second the Krippendorf.  LOVED it.  Also, we used Elegant Fare but we had them design our own menu and it was cheaper than the standard option they had.  We also did it on a Friday night which was less expensive.

  • These all have outdoor locations for weddings. Some being much more pricey than others.  I'm sure I can think of more, but here's a good start.

    Ault Park

    Alms Park

    VOA Park in West Chester

    Lake Lyndsay

    Mulhauser Barn in West Chester

    Savannah Center in West Chester

Benham's Grove, Polen Farms and Cox Arboretum in Dayton

    Manor House

    Vinoklet Winery

  • We got married at the Stonewood Banquet Center at Sharon Woods.  We had an outdoor ceremony, and went inside for the reception.  A reception could be held on the patio, as well, but I don't know the seating capacity for that.  We had 135 at our wedding, and it was very comfortable at the facility.  The backdrop that the woods and golf course provide is perfect for photos.  We even had a deer family join us the whole evening.  We let the park district's caterer provide our meal, and it was very good.  People raved over it.  I was a budget bride too.  We vowed to not owe a dime for anything wedding related, and we did our wedding, reception, and honeymoon for less than $7K.  Let me know if I can help with vendors.  You CAN and will have the perfect wedding on a budget!
