I just had my fundal height measured for the first time and got 11-13 cm (she measured twice and got 11 then 13). At 17 weeks pregnant, I guess I expected a # closer to... well... 17, right?
The MW assistants (my actual MW is out of town, so her assistants handled her appointments today) didn't seem concerned about; and I'm not really concerned about it either. But I am curious to know how much variance do you all have between your # wks and your fundal height?
Re: Curious about fundal height measurement
you should be pretty close. 17 weeks = 17 cm.
However, they don't really start measuring it until 20 weeks for a reason...your ute is still small and low. I wouldn't worry about it until after 20 weeks. Mine have always been right on.
it should be about 1cm per week after 20 weeks (I don't know of anyone really getting measured before then).
and now it makes me wonder why i wasn't measured today- maybe b/c i just had the big u/s within the past week

Fundal height is very unreliable. It varies with each doctor who does it and is somewhat subjective; if baby is positioned oddly, then the measurement is off.
With my first, I measured 4cm behind the entire pregnancy. DS was a perfectly average size baby when he was born, but I carried him extremely low. The top of his head was below my pubic bone, where they start measuring.
The other day, DD was extremely active. I had two measurements in one hour (one by a resident, the other by an attending) at 33 weeks. The resident measured me at 37cm, and the attending at 29cm. They both thought my uterus ended at different points on my abdomen. When I went two days ago, my regular doc measured me exactly at 35 weeks.
