May 2011 Moms

Oh, Dr. Google...

I KNOW that I should not be consulting Dr. Google but he is always available and feeding my nervousness and anxiety.  Today, I looked up morning sickness because I haven't had ANY!  I was randomly nauseous from week 4-6, but nothing major.  I haven't thrown-up at all.  Dr. Google tells me that women with no morning sickness have a greater chance of miscarriage and children with birth defects.  Thanks so much, Dr!!!  Sheesh!!!

Re: Oh, Dr. Google...

  • oh dont pay any attention to that. All women are different and some dont have any morning sickness and they have perfectly healthy babies. How do you think we wound up with the show "I didnt know I was pregnant"

  • Actually, I just talked with my grandma about this. She has 7 children, who all came out perfectly healthy, and she never once got sick or nauseated! So, I would say that that is not true. Your just one of the lucky ones

  • My grandma who had 5 kids and my mom who had 2 never had morning sickness.  Apperently I"m paying for them because I've got it bad.  Every pregnancy is different, even with the same woman. Ignore google and get yourself a good book to read instead.

  • I'm no expert, but from what I've read, it seems that m/s, like all other symptoms, is not something all pregnant women will experience.  No two pregnancies are alike.  This one may be very different from future ones you'll have.

  • They ran that in the local paper recently.

I realize it's baloney but, having made it to week 10 without throwing up, I still wanted to throttle someone for it.

  • During my first pregnancy I thought I had "awful morning sickness"...I now scoff at my first pregnancy self. I know plenty of women who have not experienced morning sickness and have perfect healthy babies. :) Stay away from the Google!
