Since my boss banned me from coming into the office today, I thought it would be a perfect day to hop on the internet and do some research on SUV's because there is NO WAY we'll be squeezing a family into my current car ![]()
I believe we have it narrowed down to 5 choices (DH says 5, I say 3
), now we just have to physically go drive them and see if we like them in person. If the weather holds out for us, I believe we will be doing that this weekend.
If you don't mind me asking, if you drive a SUV, what type do you have and do you like it? Would you buy it again if you had to do it over?
TIA! ![]()
(By the way, I'm on DH's PC and not my Mac...so I actually get to use the cute smiley faces! That's why there are so many of them in one post! TeeHee)
Re: My head hurts from SUV shopping already & I haven't even stepped into a dealership!
I'm a mac user too and I hate missing out on the smiley faces :-( (boring)
Anyway, I drive a 2007 Jeep Cherokee Laredo and I LOVE it!!!! DH and I both agree that it's the nicest car we've ever owned. It has such a smooth and quiet ride, more like a sedan than an SUV and it's been more than spacious enough for us. Things may get tight we 3 babies, but we're fitting 3 car seats in it now. It's great in the snow, it's 4 wheel drive just turns itself on when you need it.
If I didn't think I needed a large SUV or mini-van instead of a mid-size for my next car, I'd absolutely trade this in for another.
GOOD LUCK
we bought a ford edge in july...and i really love driving it. i thought i would hate driving a suv, but i love it. they were also running a promotion where you get $4k back...not sure if you can still get that deal on the 2010s.
good luck with whatever you decide.

We have a Mitsubishi Endeavor (DH drives this one) and a Mitsubishi Outlander (I drive this one)....we like them both. We got the Endeavor about 6 years ago and have never had a single problem with it...we will drive it as long as we can now that it is paid off! The Outlander we bought from my IL's almost a year ago. I was in an accident and totaled my car so we needed to buy a new car. DH's parent's lease on the car was up and they offered to have us buy out the lease...which was a really good deal. It would not have been my first choice but it drives nice and again problem free. We plan to drive both cars for as long as possible since we are car payment free now.
I have a 2010 Jeep Liberty which I love!!! (It's my 3rd Liberty
) It will fit 2 carseats perfectly but we have a 75 lb dog also so I think he'll have to ride in the back which he will hate! DH has started to look at SUV's with a 3rd row so if we have to fit all three in we can...yes, all for the spoiled dog! I will keep my Liberty but DH will have to give up his Chrysler 300.
GL in your seach!!
we just got the 2011 Acura MDX. I love it. It handles really well (it's AWD) and it's big enough to have decent cargo space in the back, but it's not too big. It also has a lot of safety features.
I used to drive a 2003 Honda Pilot and I loved that car too. It didn't handle as well as the MDX, but it was a good car. Really roomy.
I super crazy love my Nissan Murano! Like, really, really, REALLY love it.
It's plenty roomy (bigger than it looks), the cargo area is big and EASY to get to (it doesn't seem crazy high when I put things in it) and the seats fold down in a snap. LOVE the interior and the way it's all laid out. Because it has a continuously variable transmission (CVT is basically an engine like you'd find in a snowmobile - it's belt based instead of gear based) the gas mileage is AMAZING for an SUV and it's built on the Altima platform so it drives like a dream. It also has GREAT crash test ratings and tons of airbags.
disclaimer: I'm a Nissan junkie. I also have a second Nissan.... DH has a Volkswagen and thinks I'm crazy, but I won't give up either of my cars.
